In our last Bible talk for the year, we round of Paul's three chapter explanation of why, at the current time, Israel has rejected the gospel.

This week we learn that the greatest thing we could possess, the salvation of our souls, is the only thing we cannot earn. We must receive it by faith.

It's our final week at Leaders Training. Today we discuss what it looks like to finish well in Leading the Group, and we round off our study of Hebrews by pulling apart Hebrews 13 in Teaching the Text.

This week we begin a new section of Paul's argument in Romans. In Romans 9-11, Paul answers the question: what happened to the Jews? Why haven't they believed? The answer, at least today? So that God's purpose of election in salvation may continue.

This week in Leading the Group we discuss the importance of prayer. In Teaching the Text we grapple with the suffering caused by sin and how we should respond.

This week we discuss how to grow a helpful group culture in Leading the Group, and discuss faith in Teaching the Text. Brodie also calls Matt a bludger.

This week we discover how the assurance of the gospel enables us to persevere through present suffering to future glory.

This week we learn why Paul tells us to "break up" with the Law if we are to live the righteous life that pleases God.

This week Brodie responds to Matt's "Ode to Brodie", we talk pastoral care in Leading the Group, and tackle Jesus' sanctifying sacrifice in Teaching the Text.

This week on Leading the Group we look at the importance of consolidating discussion and summarising the study at the end. In Teaching the Text we look at Hebrews 8-9 and discover that it is only the covenant that Jesus mediates that can definitively deal with our sin.

This week we delve into Romans 6 and see why God's grace, which forgives ALL our sins, doesn't mean that we are free to keep sinning.

This week in Leading the Group we discuss building tension as a means of engaging your group. In Teaching the Text we look at Hebrews 7 and why Jesus is like Batman: he's the high priest we need (but don't deserve - or something like that. I really don't know. Ask Brodie.)

This week we shift into a new section of Romans. In Chapters 1-4, we saw what the gospel IS. In Chapters 5-8, we see what the gospel GIVES. And what the gospel gives is hope. Today we answer two questions: (1) what is the Christian hope? and (2) what are the reasons we can be certain of our hope?

Brodie returns! In Leading the Group, we discuss some principles for effective application in Bible studies. In Teaching the Text, we try to untangle the tension between the author's warnings and assurances.

This week we delve deeper into the gospel that Paul proclaims and ask how we can be included in the family of God and lay claim to the family inheritance.

This week God tells us to sit down and shut up: we stand condemned under his judgment. But just as the axe is about to fall, instead of destroying us, he tells us to listen, listen to the most momentous news in history.

This week in "Leading the Group" we discuss handling contributions, whether they be right, wrong, or completely off-topic. Then in "Teaching the Text", Keely calls in and discussed Jesus' qualifications as our high priest from Hebrews 4:14-5:10 with Matt.

Today we discuss how to generate discussion rather than awkwardness in Leading the Group, and we tackle Week 4's Bible study on Hebrews 3:1-4:13 in Teaching the Text.

Before Paul can explain why the gospel is the power of God for salvation (1:16), he needs to show us what we need saving from. This is the second week we're looking at the context of the gospel as outlined in 1:18-3:20. This week: God will judge you.

A change of format today, one which we hope will be better moving forward. We examine some of the mistakes we made last week and talk about how we can avoid them in the future, as well as talk about next week's passage.

We review last week's study, prep this week's study, discuss how follow-up questions can generate discussion, and briefly look at the difference between Protestant and Catholic beliefs about the doctrine of revelation.

As we prepare to commence Semester 2 Bible studies, it's important that we start our groups on the right foot. We'll also pull apart Hebrews 1:1-4.

Semester 2 Bible Talks kicked off in Week 1 with our first talk in our series on Romans 1-11. Romans 1:1-17 frames the rest of Paul's letter and grounds us in the gospel that he is eager to preach.
