The guys rolled into the studio for this episode scratching their heads. When it comes to the weather, this has been the craziest year ever! From the upwelling earlier this year to the nor’easter trifecta we just went through, nobody knows what to make of it all…including the fish! Regardless, the guys had a great time talking about all kinds of stuff…and with lots of callers checking in asking all kinds of questions, it was another great listen. A special bonus for you, too: the guys heard from THE ORIGINAL Outdoors Show Hall of Famer! Here’s your L.V. Hiers gear tip of the week: Captain Leon Dana has been using RigMate premade dropper rigs inshore…and catching double reds with ’em! If you want to give them a try, head to Strike Zone! Here’s your special edition, short-but-sweet Ring Power CAT tip of the week: c heck your hunting regulations! Here’s your KirbyCo Builders’ Cooking Tip of the Week: Redfish on the half shell. Capt. Kirk was doing some OSR this week, so Capt. Chip Wingo, one of our beloved Unusual Suspects from the Fishing Forecast, joined Capt. Kevin and Jeff for the episode. Lots to talk about with bow season firing up in Georgia and the nor’easter features making inshore fishing fun. But the OS faithful jumped on the chance to help Jeff with his bird problem. All kinds of suggestions came in, but Brother James called in and shared the ultimate bird scare experience, featuring Fan Man and the Rock’n’Roll Light Show! The conversation often went sideways, but don’t think the guys didn’t talk outdoors – you don’t want to miss the snake and shark stories! Here’s your L.V. Hiers gear tip of the week: Casey sent us this one – a baseball cap organizer for under $25! Find one of your own on Amazon! Whether you call it “nor’easter” or “northeaster”, everybody was calling it a welcome change from the weather has been doing. Great fishing and fun, with lots of stories about it. Speaking of great stories and great fishing, Jeff spent some time down south recently, and brought a guest back with him: Capt. Jeff Maggio of Lunkerdog! Get the lowdown on Jeff’s trip with him, all the great YouTube he’s posted over the years, all about Lunkerdog, and a fantastic story about his time with Mark Sosin. If you want to learn more about what Capt. Jeff is doing, click HERE to visit the official website. We also heard from representatives of the upcoming Young Life Triple Challenge and Flounder Pounder tournaments…which means the First Coast has some great chances for great prizes coming their way this fall. Here’s your L.V. Hiers gear tip of the week: According to Jeff, Mullethead was right! The Dragonfly Wingman may sound silly, and the product description may look REALLY sketchy, but here’s Jeff’s quote: “These jokers work!” Jeff hasn’t been bitten by a horsefly in his outdoor shower since putting them out! Click HERE to get yours. Here’s your Ring Power CAT tip of the week: St. Augustine is a much better inlet to fish during a Northeaster. You can easily cast net mullet in Salt Run and fish out of the wind at Porpoise Point. The docks and bridges should be on fire this weekend! Here’s your KirbyCo Builders’ Cooking Tip of the Week: Tera’s Tomato Pie – Slice your tomatoes in the morning. Sprinkle with salt. Put them out on paper towels to get the moisture out all day. Flip a few times throughout the day with new paper towels. – Use a deep dish pie crust (Tera uses premade) and put it in the oven for about 10 mins at 350 to get bottom done. – Combine a cup of shredded cheese, 1/2 cup dukes mayo and a 1/2 cup sour cream together. – Caramelize a sweet onion and when done mix in a few pieces of cooked/chopped bacon. – Layer tomatoes, onion mix in the pie pan until it’s all gone. Spread the cheese mixture on top of tomatoes. – Bake at 350 until it’s done (about 40 mins) Enjoy!! Facebook…

Get his thoughts, along with the usual cast of characters, and then let that question percolate in your noggin for a minute. Could this have been the best May ever? Maybe the better question is this: is the best May ever going to shift into the best June ever? Facebook…

Jim Croce once sang, “You don’t tug on Superman’s cape, you don’t spit into the wind, you don’t pull the mask off the ‘ol Lone Ranger, and you don’t mess around with Slim.” Well, he should’ve added a line about how you shouldn’t trust the weatherman. “Beautiful weather,” they said. “Great for fishing,” they said. They lied. Capt. Kevin and the Thursday Night Cast of Characters talks about it, and then they give you a forecast you can actually trust on this episode of the Fishing Forecast. Facebook…

If you listen to the Outdoors Show for the hunting and fishing stories, this is THE EPISODE for you! The guys all had some great stories about everything going on in the woods and in the water. The turkey hunting has been great, the fishing has been great (even though the weather has been, well, not so much), and the guys talk all about it. Not sure how it happened, but somehow the word “bougie” came up. Chris promptly introduced the guys to ChatGPT, which spit out all kinds of info and led to a discussion of the ultimate bougie loadout for inshore and offshore Florida fishing. The question for you is this: just how bougie an angler are you? And yes, they talked about the pink moon – it’s the super moon that’ll be overhead tonight. But that wasn’t it – they even got a glimpse into their future, thanks to insight provided by a “celebrity astrologer”. Blame Jeff for that one… Here’s your L.V.
