This podcast discusses the intensity of astrological events leading up to the third Mars/Pluto opposition April 26 & the Taurus New Moon April 27! We begin by looking back, as that’s how we learn best how certain astrological aspects in the sky have manifested within the collective. It’s then we can filter this macrocosm of information down into the microcosm of meaning in our own personal lives. So, last week the Sun entered earthy, dependable, stubborn & change resistant Taurus, followed by an empathic Mars/Neptune trine on April 19. This shift became part of American support for the Supreme Court’s early morning April 19 ruling that the U.S. must return mistakenly deported Kilmar Abrego Garcia from the hellhole prison in El Salvador. It also awakened in us the knowledge that the government’s denial of the constitutional right to due process by paying the El Salvadoran dictator $15M to house such prisoners is coming out of taxpayer money. By April 20’s third quarter crisis in consciousness monthly lunar waning fixed square of the Aquarius Moon to the Taurus Sun—which included the Moon’s opposition to Mars & conjunction to Pluto, along with the Sun’s square to Mars—we knew this was a set up for something potentially alarming to happen. And so it did, as hours later as the Moon perfected its conjunction to Pluto, the lord of the underworld, Pope Francis passed away at the age of 88 during the early hours of April 21. This event, occurring two days before the Taurus Sun’s exact square to Pluto, & five days before the third Mars/Pluto opposition on April 26, echoed those of the recent past. This podcast discusses the details of the intense events which took place around the first Mars/Pluto opposition on November 3, 2024, the second on January 3, 2025. And what’s been leading up now to this third Mars/Pluto opposition as part of this series of intense, potentially violent aspects in the sky. Meanwhile, as it wanes, we discuss the lasting effects of the Aries New Moon solar eclipse monthly lunar cycle, begun on March 29, at the same time as the heliacal rising of Venus during its retrograde cycle. And how these astro-events portended the fallibility of political leaders—with a specific look the dropping poll numbers of American President Donald Trump, & the misfortunes of unelected billionaire Elon Musk since he strayed from steering the helm of his Tesla company's ship to feed a multitude of life-saving U.S. Governmentally-funded programs "into the woodchipper." We look as well at the recent Venus/Saturn & Saturn/North Node conjunctions in the sky & whether or not we collectively take up the mission of reviewing our true values & making a future commitment to them. For example, do we value the rule of law in a democracy—or not? Do we value foundational facts & commitment in our relationships—or not? These kind of intense questions continue through the exact Mars/Pluto conjunction on April 26, and the Taurus New Moon which forms a frictionally tense T-square to the Mars/Pluto opposition April 27. This sets the tone for the month ahead as we attempt to figure out where we’ve been disempowered and where we may need to fight for future empowerment. We look at all of this through the lens of the U.S. Sibly birth chart from July 4, 1776--especially since April 19 was the 250th anniversary of the first shots fired in Concord & Lexington, MA, that began the U.S. Revolutionary War on April 19, 1775. And America's current Pluto return as a time when freedom from tyranny & the message of "no kings" rings out from a growing chorus of average American citizens across the land. By the time Venus moves back into Aries on April 30, Mars becomes her dispositor. That means Venus is once again the warrior &, as the ruler of the Sun in Taurus, we’re all more inclined to defend & protect not only our own rights, but to fight for the rights of those who are less able to defend & protect themselves. By the time Venus conjoins Neptune in Aries May 2, we may well see a greater empathic response from the collective related to a myriad number of issues, the importance of which the collective will have awakened to by then. Astrologer Sheri Horn Hasan first looks back at how the April 4 first-quarter “crisis in action” waxing monthly lunar cardinal square of the Cancer Moon to the Aries Sun spurred people into action under the mantra of “Hands Off!” If you’re a regular podcast listener, you’ll have heard on this podcast before the statement that when enough people are affected personally, that’s when they will take to the streets in large numbers. Well, that’s what an estimated 5.2 million of them did—old, young, and in between—to tell the current U.S. Government “hands off” my medical care & research, my social security, my educational opportunities, my job, my civil rights, right to bodily autonomy, and so much more. Meanwhile Mercury’s station direct in Pisces on April 7 seems to have proven what Erin Sullivan says in her book “Retrograde Planets, Traversing the Inner Landscape,” which is that it marks a time to “engage in observation and begin to pay attention.” Well, hard not to pay attention to U.S. President Trump’s on-again off-again tariff threats against ALL U.S. trading partners—that resulted in putting the U.S. stock market--& by association global markets—into free fall this past week. Trump is a Gemini Sun/Uranus, which in its lowest manifestation is far more than “mercurial”--& as has been proven throughout his time in the presidency--to be erratic & mayhem-oriented. So, the whipsaw like back and forth on tariffs during both Mercury & Venus retrograde periods should really be no surprise. (This podcast highlights how the recent Mercury retrograde period triggered an important T-square in Trump’s chart, so give it a listen!) What’s changing now, however, is how undeniably obvious this has become as well as how potentially disruptive to both the U.S. & global trade & economy. With Mercury now direct, however, we’ve seen yet again additional changes in plans from the U.S. Government vis-à-vis tariffs. What’s becoming more and more obvious, however, to even the average news absorber, is that Trump’s assumption that his tariffs will succeed when they’ve been historically proven to weaken America’s dollar, lead to losses for American companies, & create turmoil in the financial markets, is their complete unworkability. We approach now the April 12 Libra Full Moon, which occurs at 23’20’ Libra in opposition to the Aries Sun conjunct wounded healer Chiron, while they all form a cardinal T-square to Mars in Cancer. Less than an hour later Venus stations direct in Pisces, telling us it’s time to check in on the status of our partnerships. Can you spell "F-R-U-S-T-R-A-T-I-O-N?" As both Venus & Mercury begin to gather speed in their forward trajectory, we can see more clearly the results of how these astrological energies are currently playing out, at least here in America. This lunation highlights that we have here a “wounded king/ruler/autocrat wanna-be” facing opposition from the “people,” who desire to be more partnership-oriented with the rest of the world rather than less. In essence, this lunation—which has the Libra Moon reflecting back to the wounded Sun its own light—asks us to release any tendencies toward an “it’s my way or the highway” type leadership that leads only to opposition, and to begin to negotiate & compromise. This becomes difficult, however, since what’s wounded the Aries Sun is its lack of ability to back down in the face of having proactively made disastrous decisions. We look forward now to Mercury reentering Aries on April 16 or 17, depending on your time zone, and Mars reentering Leo April 17/18. Will Trump double down on his losing proposition to impose 145% tariffs on Chinese imports as China ups the ante by raising its tariff rates on U.S. goods to 125 percent on April 12? Especially when economists already know that this kind of trade war will result in higher prices for American consumers. “China’s factories produce more than those in the United States, Germany, Japan, South Korea and Britain combined, and many of the products imported to the United States come from China,” according to the New York Times. And that’s not mentioning how the U.S. House of Representatives managed to pass a continuing budget resolution on April 10, as we waxed toward the Libra Full Moon, that will keep Trump’s 2017 tax cuts for billionaires & cut trillions from government services. This passed 216 to 214, with zero democrats voting for it & two republicans jumping ship to side with the democrats. This podcast discusses the arduous task ahead for Congress to rectify the House & Senate versions of this bill, along with how it will result in growing opposition by an ever-enlarging group of those who’ll be personally affected by such cuts. WAXING ARIES NEW MOON SOLAR ECLIPSE FIRST QUARTER & NEPTUNE IN ARIES: THE TIDE BEGINS TO TURN! 1:00:02

JOIN SHERI HORN HASAN for this week’s Astro News You Can Use podcast @ https://www.karmicevolution.com/astrologically-speaking which covers how, as we’re now at the first quarter monthly lunar square of the Cancer Moon to the Aries Sun April 4, a major shift is reverberating through our global collective consciousness. This podcast starts with a recap of the effects of eclipse season & what’s taken place between March 13 & now--including notable accidents, fires, natural disasters, and other events of a physical nature such as military bombings, & the incarceration of those who protest war. For example, in addition to the devastating storms that raged through the U.S. after the March 13/14 Virgo Full Moon lunar eclipse, and just before the Aries New Moon Solar Eclipse on March 29, we learned of the 7.7 magnitude earthquake in Myanmar. The massive destruction there has now left 3,455 people dead, another 4,715 people injured, and 341 missing, according to Myanmar’s military-led government. We discuss also what’s occurred between the inferior conjunction of the Sun in Aries to Venus retrograde on March 22 and its heliacal rising circa March 29, which echoes the themes of this eclipse series--with the addition of the fall from grace of prominent people. This theme was mirrored in last night’s removal by the high court of the South Korean president after he instituted martial law back on December 12, 2024, and may represent a harbinger of the future elsewhere. Here in America, there are plenty of people losing their positions, such as unelected billionaire Elon Musk who’s responsible for major labor cuts and funding throughout the federal government that’s just now beginning to take effect by touching peoples lives personally. An object of American & Canadian anger, Musk is reportedly due to step down as a "special government employee" who's head of the Department of Government Efficiency sometime in May. However, he will remain an advisor to President Trump. But the real news is that the tide is beginning to turn as voters in Wisconsin elected a democrat to the state's supreme court on April 2, reducing GOP influence in a swing state that voted overwhelmingly for Trump last November. And, although two GOP House representative won their special elections in deep red regions of Florida, the turnout there severely alarmed GOP operatives as the percentages of those wins dropped drastically from last November. In addition, the democrats in Congress show signs of beginning to wake up and fight back since this Aries solar eclipse & as we approach the waxing cardinal first quarter monthly lunar “crisis in action” square on April 4. Even some hardcore GOP members of Congress are now objecting to Trump’s massive tariffs on nearly all foreign nations that trade with America. These eclipses, combined with Mercury’s retrograde period starting on March 14 at the lunar eclipse, have included a review of trade contracts & agreements. Between the combination of Venus retrograde from March 1 through April 12 & Mercury’s retrograde cycle from March 14 through April 7, we’ve seen the weakening of global partnerships (Venus) with America mainly through the issue of trade (Mercury.) And, as the U.S. continues to maintain its isolationist “us versus them” stance on trade and its expansionist threats against its partners, retaliation is threatened by these partners (Aries)—again. Fingers crossed that mercurial unpredictable President Trump will come to a final conclusion on his tariff threats, due to go into effect on April 5, by the time Mercury stations direct again on April 7. Such threats have already tanked the financial markets, alarming many, even though the jobs report today was a positive one. But the federal worker cuts have not hit the unemployment stats yet, and we have not yet felt the full brunt of economic effects based on the increase in prices of goods imported into the U.S. Economists’ estimates this will cost the average American between $1600 & $3,800 per year--which essentially amounts to a rise in taxes. As people begin to wake up to all of this and how it will affect them & those they love personally, attitudes are beginning to shift in alignment with the post Aries New Moon solar eclipse energies. In addition, Neptune’s ingress into Aries on March 30 is slowly allowing the birth of a new consciousness around the world’s current predicament to arise and events indicate now that action will follow. Looked at symbolically, NY Senator Cory Booker’s record breaking 25+ hour speech on the Senate floor on April 2 that excoriated Trump, Musk, and others for their careless, callous edicts & actions (here’s lookin’ at you Pete Hegseth & Mike Waltz), represented the birth of a new political awakening & retaliatory defiance. In addition, a new era is heralded by Neptune’s entrance into Aries for the next fourteen years until 2038. Since Neptune rules the natural 12th House of gestation, and Mars-ruled Aries the proactivity necessary for the act of birth, we’re witnessing now the birth of consciousness within the collective that the old order is falling away and a new one will eventually mature into adulthood. While we’re still a long way from that phase of Neptune in Aries, we know that Neptune will be joined soon by Saturn in Aries on May 24. And that this CAN herald a time of greater psychological understanding within the national collective. Why? Because we’ll be able to overcome any egoic blockages (Saturn) by bridging the gap (Aries) between the rational conscious ego and the irrational intuitive waters that lie deep within the unconscious (Neptune.) After all, it’s Neptune that intuitively understands that we are all brothers & sisters under the skin, AND that in Aries, we’ll be willing to fight for our freedoms based on that simple truth. We start with the Pisces New Moon monthly lunar cycle which squared Jupiter in Gemini back on February 27 & led to the overly enthusiastic yet expansively arrogant dramatic reception by President Donald Trump & vice president J.D. Vance in the White House on February 28. It seemed back then like things were only going downhill from there-- what with unelected billionaire Elon Musk in charge of gutting federal governmental services that U.S. citizens rely on under the guise of eliminating waste & fraud. Moving fast and breaking things his specialty, Musk didn’t take long to fall out of favor with Americans suffering from his financial cuts by the time we reached the March 6 first quarter lunar crisis in action mutable square of the Gemini Moon to the Pisces Sun. Musk’s reply? “Everybody’s talkin’ at me, I don’t hear a word they’re saying…” Things were in flux all right, and by the time of the March 7/8 Pisces Sun trined Mars—by then direct in Cancer since February 23—it was clear that everything was not going to be ok. It slowly began to dawn on larger numbers of people that America’s current situation was not sustainable and that a radical change would be necessary for the future, as Erin Sullivan defines this aspect in her book “Retrograde Planets.” By March 8, U.S. green card holders—legally allowed to live and work here--were being arrested without being charged with a crime or the right to an attorney & sent to harsh ICE prisons. By March 9, both Americans and Canadians were fed up—the former with Musk’s federal job & funding cuts beginning to reverberate negatively throughout society & the latter as the U.S. president refused to shut up about making Canada America’s 51st state--& began attacking Tesla dealerships. Meanwhile, lawsuits against the Trump administration’s actions began to deluge the courts and now total 146. Approximately one-third of these are now under judicial restraints via various judges’ rulings against federal employee firings, the defunding of Congressionally approved programs, veterans’ healthcare and other benefits, and so much more. With Venus already retrograde in Aries since March 1 & Mercury having stationed retrograde in Aries 14/15--just after the first Virgo Full Moon lunar eclipse on March 13/14—it seemed inevitable that the truth was beginning to dawn even on those who’d voted for this current administration of billionaires. Not to mention their GOP Congressional sidekicks who’d by then become too afraid to hold public town halls with their angry constituents. However, since the Sun/Neptune conjunction in Pisces March 19 & the Sun’s entrance into Aries at the spring equinox March 20, a shift began to take place. Such an obvious lack of compassion of the “let them eat cake” kind, combined with a callous inattention to detail, began to give way by the time the Sun’s entrance into Aries called us all into the fight. Since they, we’ve been morphing away from delusional Piscean energy & toward the higher Piscean manifestation of empathy, & into a more proactive “fight for the right to have rights!” Aries battle cry. And with Venus retrograde have reached her inferior conjunction with the Sun in Aries March 22, we’re now, by March 29, at the heliacal rising at time when global leaders tend to lose their heads, so to speak… At the Sun joined Mercury in Aries on March 24—usually an important announcement of some kind from or about leaders, as I noted in last week’s podcast—we learned about how top secret U.S. military classified information was disseminated via the unprotected Signal chat app. As we move closer to early May’s conjunction between transiting Uranus and “off with his head” fixed star Algol, no surprise that calls for the resignation of our current Pisces Moon Defense Secretary are, in true Aries fashion, getting louder by the day. My March 26’s Mars square to wounded healer Chiron, it was obvious how this incident “wounded” our military by weakening its defenses through allowing those listening (are you listening Russia? This podcast looks at how we are reevaluating relationships thanks to Venus retrograde & how we can find the inspiration to create our future, thanks to Mercury retrograde, both in Aries. We review also, as we’re in the middle of two eclipses, the theme of this set of eclipses. Hint: this eclipse series is a very physically expressive one that may involve accidents, great physical effort, violence, or any sudden physical events, as per traditional astrologer Bernadette Brady in her book “Predictive Astrology.” Though some may experience these eclipses positively, we’ve already seen how they’ve manifested thus far in the collective in terms of both “sudden physical events” & violence,” given recent news reports. We have the recent storms which swept through the American south & southwest beginning March 14, the day of the Virgo Full Moon lunar eclipse that sparked tornadoes, wildfires, high winds and dust storms across eight states over. The result? At least 42 people dead and dozens injured. In addition, the Trump Administration authorized an attack on the Houthis in Yemen on March 15, in which at least 53 people were killed, including five children and two women, and 98 others were wounded, according to the Houthi-run health ministry. The Houthis have described the attacks as a "war crime" and vowed retaliation. That’s in addition to a fire in a nightclub that killed 59 people in North Macedonia March 16, the deportation of 261 Venezuelans in America accused of being gang members & sent to El Salvador March 15. It’s been discovered since, in true Neptunian fashion, that not all are gang members & that at least one is a professional soccer player who fled Venezuela after having participated in protests against the Maduro government and was arrested there & tortured. Israel declared the ceasefire in Gaza over & resumed airstrikes in Gaza March 18, killing more than 400 people including many women and children, and injuring at least 500, according to Gaza health officials. As we approach the Aries New Moon solar eclipse at 9-degrees Aries on March 29, should we expect more of the same? Meanwhile this podcast discusses several things, including whether or not more heads will roll (here’s lookin’ at you, Senate majority leader Chuck Schumer) as Uranus once again heads toward conjoining with fixed star “off with his head” Algol circa May 4.) Mercury’s Virgo’s about analysis and the Virgo archetype has a strong affinity for numbers, often as in dollars and cents. When we look at what’s going on now in the U.S.--with an algorithm system having been given more credence than quality of life--we can see what kind of mess the U.S. is in right now. As jobs & services—particularly those related to health & human services--“disappear,” the Virgo Moon reminds the Pisces Sun that facts DO matter when it comes to quality of life. In essence, the Virgo Mon reminds the Pisces Sun—gathered together with rigid Saturn & often confused Neptune—of two things: 1. That you cannot ignore facts or make them up to fit your wishful thinking (or delusional) plan; & 2. That it’s time to ground this plan in reality using a strictly analytical “just the facts, ma’m” methodology. However, this is not what is happening now as the U.S. governmental foundations implode under their own weight and the balance of democracy itself weighs in the balance. While everyone seems to agree that Virgoan efficiency is necessary to cut out waste & fraud, no one seems to have derived the proper methodology to calculate the correct numbers and to create a viable plan that doesn’t shock everyone into a rebellious stance. Let’s not forget that Mercury's Virgo rules the 6th House in what’s known as the natural chart in western tropical astrology. And the 6th House rules service, health, & work, in terms of what we do on a daily basis. The Virgo Moon at this lunar eclipse reminds the Pisces Sun & his friends Saturn & Neptune that you cannot simply fire people en masse with little notice & zero compassion and expect a positive response. There is an irony at this lunar eclipse, however, which is that the Virgo Moon conjoins the Virgo SN at this lunation, which means it’s opposing not only the Sun, Saturn, & Neptune now, but the Pisces North Node as well. And in evolutionary astrology, we are to move away from the shadow side of Virgo energy & toward the more empathetic spiritually healing energy for which Neptune-ruled Pisces is known. We may see an answer between now and the March 13/14 lunar eclipse--which occurs at roughly the same time as the U.S. budget deadline in Congress--If negotiations result in a compromise OR not, causing the U.S. Government to shut down at 12:01 a.m. on March 15. It’s clear the energy of this upcoming eclipse will be in play as we wait and watch to see if the desires of billionaires for tax cuts trump the needs of average hard working Americans for governmental services. The danger here lies with the fact that the current commander in chief of the armed forces is Donald Trump, who during his last administration wanted to use the military to shoot Black Lives Matter protestors. He is now setting the stage to be able to do exactly that—next time protestors take to the streets. Then there’s Venus stationing retrograde March 1 through April 12, when Venus will move back from Aries into Pisces. This is a period during which--according to Jungian astrologer Erin Sullivan in her book “Retrograde Planets”--we begin a time of global review. Between now and the inferior conjunction of the Aries Sun with Venus retrograde on March 22, & its heliacal rising March 28/29, is when “the reconsideration of what is diplomatic, & what is necessary to maintain a balanced world view & sense of integrity, is precisely what happens” to us both individually & collectively, Sullivan says. Both she and astrologer Bruce Scofield have predicted certain events may happen during this time—tune in to find out more! Mercury's entrance into Mars-ruled Aries March 3 adds some fuel to the fire of any backlash against what's happening now & what may occur during Venus's retrograde period. It's clear now that the February 14 Leo Full Moon has awakened many to the fact that the Aquarius New Moon planted seeds allowing us to gain a new perspective. And that Uranus direct has led to the revelatory aha moments for which it’s known by the time the Leo Full Moon revealed how ideological ideas of “perfection” are difficult to manifest in the real world & that the sudden changes ruled by Uranus can cause trauma. And that unconventional government oversight based on idealistic notions by unelected people placed in positions of power now hold our future security in their hands. Further, the Leo Full Moon’s squares to Uranus in Taurus which opposed Juno (partner) in Scorpio resulted in the breaking apart of established partnerships in favor or new ones—especially those deemed more financially rewarding. By now, however, since Mercury entered Pisces on February 14 & the Sun followed on February 18--& as we waxed toward the February 20 third-quarter monthly lunar square (which astrologer Dane Rudhyar called the “crisis in consciousness” period)—we’ve understood how rapidly caused shock & trauma result in confusion. Further, by the time Sagittarius Moon squared the Pisces Sun & Mercury squared Jupiter February 20, we realized people (Moon=the people) had journeyed to their U.S. national & state Capitols (Sagittarius) to protest. Protest what? That the ”pie in the sky” visions of the ideological fundamentalists begun earlier this month now in charge of the U.S. Government have caused both individuals--and groups of people—actual harm through loss (Pisces Sun.) Now, as we approach next week’s Mars station retrograde in Cancer on February 23 & Mars begins to gather speed—in combination with this past month’s Aquarian awakening--we begin to realize that this retrograde period brought up from our unconscious what’s really most important to us on a deeper soul level. AND that THIS is what's rousing us out of our apathy to fight back against. Discussion includes how this past week’s Leo Full Moon exposed the plight of individuals against ideological notions of “a more perfect union” as the ongoing U.S. Pluto return reveals how corporate greed is rotting governmental foundations from the inside out. Pluto=other peoples’ money=taxpayer dollars. Pluto also=joint resources=federal loans & grants. In Uranus-ruled Aquarius, which Pluto will transit through until March 2043, it’s about transformation of joint resources due to ideological notions of a “more perfect union.” But Aquarius is an “of the people, by the people, for the people,” humanitarian archetypal notion. The kind that represents humanitarian advances in technology that make life better for us all. However, given that the effects of U.S. Pluto return--triggered initially @27’33” Capricorn in 2022—will last until about 2036 if history proves educational—it’s highly likely this period will culminate as a time of “power to the people.” It's just that it’s going to take a while to get there and it won’t happen without a fight. However, the signs of an infected U.S. governmental system—based on financial policies such as more deregulation, fiscal austerity, trickle down economics of the “starve the beast” kind—have burst through into consciousness during the new Trump administration. The February 9 Sun/Mercury conjunction in Aquarius, squares by the Aquarius Mercury & Sun to sudden change maker Uranus on February 10 & 11, & the February 12 Leo Full Moon, respectively, have brought alarm & consternation, but also additional clarity as these aspects highlight disenfranchisement of the individual. In addition, as the news continues to fly so fast and furiously that it’s hard to keep up, one fact stands out in stark relief. And that is that technology matters more than people. That’s because non-elected folks like billionaire Elon Musk continue to use AI to parse out what the tech bros describe as “waste & fraud” in the American Treasury Department’s systems of payments. With no oversight, they seem to be the only ones—along with newly appointed billionaires who now head major governmental cabinet posts—in charge of the U.S. payment system. And that includes not only humanitarian medical & food aid both at home & abroad, but Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, student loans, and much more. When oligarch wannabes steer the ship, it’s becoming easier to see that the final destination is NOT enhanced people power, but rather corporate power uber alles, which means “above everything else.” Will the upcoming entrance of Neptune into Aries on March 30 save us? What about when Saturn enters Aries on May 26 and the two planets run side by side in 2025 before they exact conjoin at the 0° Aries point on February 20, 2026. No wonder sudden shock (Uranus=sudden change) related to codified U.S. law (Jupiter=law, immigration, higher education, religion, philosophy, ethics & morals) has shaken many American’s faith in their governing systems. Venus represents who we value as partners, finances, and what we do to earn our money, a.k.a., work, or our “jobs.” And now, since Venus in Aries sextiled Pluto on February 7, these most unconventional—and many say illegal—orders out of President Trump’s White House have prompted legal push back. And the fight (Aries) over governmental finances, jobs, & between existig allies & trading partners (Venus) continues. The opportunity to fight back against Plutonic efforts to disempower people by imposing tariffs against allied trading partners, withholding funds from Americans, laying off government workers, discontinuing funding for charitable efforts, etc., has began to bear fruit, considering that a double-digit number of lawsuits have been filed to date. And word has it there will be more anon…after all, the Jupiter mission, now direct, is expansion, lol... We wait to see if there are any new major shocking announcements of the legal sort between now & February 9’s Aquarius Sun/Mercury conjunction, Mars/Saturn trine, February 10’s Mercury/Uranus square, & February 11’s Sun/Uranus square, as we head into the February 12’s Leo Full Moon. We do know that Trump's been experiencing a square from transiting Saturn in Pisces from his 7th House of partnership to his natal 10th House Gemini Uranus (which conjoins his Gemini North Node & Sun there), likely spurring his need to shock through unconventional pronouncements. Since several judges have stayed his Executive Orders on issues concerning U.S. birthright, stoppage of funding via USAID, lay-offs of federal workers, granting non elected individuals access to the Treasury Department's payment system, and more, to date, we may well have Saturn to thank. We discuss also if this election’s October surprise involves the word “fascist” since the revealing (Mercury’s in Scorpio now!) of a certain past president’s “fascist tendencies” at the third-quarter lunar square of the Leo Moon to the Scorpio Sun October 24. It pays now to remember that the Libra New Moon solar eclipse on October 2 asked us to plant seeds that could grow into a stronger sense of how to become our own best partner without the need to rely on others, especially if/when those relationships prove unsustainable and/or toxic. Perhaps the October surprise period will not have ended until then with the U.S. presidential election then only seven days way, who knows? However, the Mercury/Neptune trine that follows on October 31 may result in a more empathic mindset; one where we feel more sympathetic toward others and “genuinely want to aid anyone who needs your help…” according to Rob Hand. First we review what went down during the balsamic period of last month’s lunar cycle, then discuss the August 4 Leo New Moon & Mercury’s station retrograde in Virgo from the lens of the upcoming American presidential election. Could it be that Mercury retrograde in Virgo asks us to reevaluate our attitude toward whether or not a woman can be president? Especially given that Virgo’s traditionally an archetypal sign representing, among other things, the girl next door & “the virgin” (which of course applies to females and not males in this patriarchal world we’ve been living in for so long.) First it pays to remember that the Gemini New Moon monthly lunar cycle--which spanned from June 5 until July 5--& marked by a Sun/Moon/Venus in Gemini square Saturn in Pisces, asked us to plant seeds related to discussing who or what we truly value. And the June 21 Capricorn Full Moon called us to release any tendencies toward infantile behavior of clinging to the past--purely out of habit—rather than entertaining a more serious point of view. However, since the Cancer New Moon July 5--teamed again with Venus but in mutable T-square to Virgo Juno, the goddess asteroid of partnership opposite Saturn in Pisces—asked us to plant seeds that might allow us to decide whether to break, or stay, with current partnerships. Now, the first quarter monthly lunar square of the Libra Moon to the Cancer Sun July 13 urges us to decide where we stand on this issue. In other words, the challenge now is to decide (and we know that the Libra archetype often can be extremely indecisive) whether to align with the emotional past or look forward more realistically to the future. Since the Libra Moon opposes wounded healer Chiron & Eris (the dwarf planet of chaos, discord, & strife) in Aries, while the Cancer Sun squares them both—forming a cardinal T-square--we may find an awful lot of, well, chaos surrounding our partnership decisions right now. Given the current state of the nation, it’s time to review both its past and its future—especially within the context of the triggering of our first exact Pluto return, which perfected initially on February 20, 2022 & whose effects are still being felt now. The fact that America is now in a long-term state of transformation is, at this point, undeniable, and the only questions now are how long will this transformational period last & what will be the end result? It seems impossible to deny that the United States of America, a Cancer Sun nation, is having a recurrence of the energies of the late 1770’s since transiting Pluto first returned to its natal place on February 20, 2022 & it repercussions are still being felt. To prove this, we need only look at the major Supreme Court ruling on presidential immunity issued on July 1--during the waning portion of the previous Gemini New Moon cycle--which essentially anoints a U.S. president a king. Given that this is what the original colonists fought against during the American Revolutionary War—which lasted from 1775-1783—it would seem we’ve been thrust back in time to relive a similar situation now. Is it possible the current state of chaos & confusion related to the upcoming November 5 U.S. presidential election is the result of an undeniably disastrous June 27 debate performance by President Biden two days before Saturn stationed retrograde on June 29 & less than a week before Neptune's station retrograde July 2? Well, it certainly seems these heavenly retrogrades have thrust this nation back into a crisis of wondering who will lead us through not only current, but future, crises & whether that person is up to the job… We look in this podcast as the prescient writing of NY-based astrologer Michael Lutin, who wrote in the December 2006 issue of Vanity Fair Magazine that as transiting Pluto in Capricorn reconjoined its natal position in the U.S. birth chart that: “The words "patriot" and "treason" will lose their meaning, and in some cases they will become interchangeable. What is treason to one person will be patriotism to another—just as it was back in the 1760s and 70s. The country's mood will become darker and much more conservative. That’s because this solstice chart reflects a tensional T-square between the Moon in Sagittarius to Juno (a.k.a., the archetypal energy of “the wife”) in Virgo opposite Saturn in Pisces, indicating disharmony between what each partner needs to feel emotionally secure. We’ll review how astrological energies of the past week actually played out as the Gemini New Moon lunar cycle from June 6 continues to wax toward next week’s Capricorn Full Moon June 21… As Mars in Taurus waxed toward its exact fixed square to Pluto in Aquarius on June 11—an aspect that can predict violence--we first learned of the rescue of four Israeli hostages in Gaza, but also that, in doing so, 274 Palestinians perished. And on June 10, the U.N. Security Council passed a U.S.-backed Gaza cease-fire resolution that laid out a three-phase plan that begins with an immediate cease-fire. But action there has been stalled, as per the squares to Saturn by Venus, the Sun, & Mercury between June 8 & 10—as the Gemini New Moon began to wax--just as it’s been stalled elsewhere in places like the U.S. Congress. These squares reflect resistance, particularly from authority figures &/or institutions. This became obvious this past week in Germany & France, where right-wing factions gained ground in last week’s elections, causing French President Macron to dissolve the lower house of parliament & call for new elections beginning June 30. Part of a historic surge of the far-right’s in European elections—including in Germany—France’s politics have been thrown into disarray. This podcast reviews also how on June 11 former President Donald Trump, convicted on May 30 of 34 felonies, met with his probation officer who will make sentencing recommendations to the judge who’s scheduled to announce Trump’s sentene on July 11. Also on July 11, as Mars exact squared Pluto, a jury found Hunter Biden guilty for lying about his drug use on his application to own a gun. As noted, Mars & Pluto in frictional aspect can mean violence, and guns—whether used or not—certainly imply potential violent intent. We look during this podcast at Hunter Biden’s natal chart & discuss how it reflects the sudden loss of his mother due to an automobile accident. It's Gemini season, after all, & the Geminian archetype includes local transportation--& Biden has a Mars/Uranus opposition square to his natal Cancer/Capricorn Ascendent/Descent. Tune in for more about this… More on the Mars/Pluto square front was the news that Steve Bannon, Trump’s former chief of staff during the early years of his presidency is due to report to jail on July 1, though he’s still attempting a last minute appeal. Bannon--who’s been accused of stealing money from the fund collected to “build the wall” (the resurrection of another Saturnian symbol during a week of squares to Saturn,” lol)—is being jailed for refusing to respond to a House January 6 committee subpoena & was sentenced to four months in prison on October 21, 2022. Talk about delay, eh? And, how about—as we approached the June 13/14 first quarter lunar square of the Virgo Moon to the Gemini Sun AND the Sun/Mercury conjunction in Gemini—the Supreme Court decision declaring that the case to prevent mifepristone from being sent through the mail was decided. The lack of standing of the petitioners was the deciding factor, but this means another case is probably coming down the pike, again illustrating those squares to Saturn as a delay but not a final resolution. Finally, there’s the decision by the G7 nations meeting this past week that both U.S. & European banks housing frozen Russian assets—to the tune of $250BN—agree to use the $50BN in interest to fund a U.S. loan to Ukraine to help with this nation’s reconstruction once the war of Russian aggression there ends. Confiscating "joint resources" monies as retribution against war--you can’t get more Mars/Pluto square-y than that! This podcast delves deeply into how this past month’s planetary aspects—starting with the May 7 Taurus New Moon monthly lunar cycle--helped us renew our innate sense of morality, ethics, and yes, true justice! By now most of us are familiar with the May 30 waning third quarter lunar square & the big news about a trial conviction for former president Donald Trump as Mercury conjoined Uranus in Taurus. This podcast looks at the play-by-play of astrological aspects that led to a jury of his peers finding him guilty on all 34 felony counts, & how in the end that Taurus New Moon cycle’s energies reinforced our inherent sense of justice—including in the power of the feminine divine. HINT: We’ll look at how, since May 7’s Taurus New Moon lunation--& its conjunctions to Uranus & Jupiter in Taurus & sextile to Saturn in Pisces—we were asked us to plant seeds of greater commitment to our truest sense of ethics, morality, & the ability to judge fairly. And how the May 23 Sagittarius Full Moon called us to release our attachment to unrelated or random details that do not add up to the whole story. And now how that renewed sense of faith can lead us to discover-- during this Gemini New Moon monthly lunar cycle—that it’s time to plant seeds that allows us to LISTEN to details that make sense because they add up to a logical conclusion. We may use the Gemini archetype’s mental agility & adaptability to continue to exchange our old set of no longer relevant values for ones more appropriate to current times. And to plan to our tactical advantage, as long as we remember to keep in mind that we must develop an overall strategy that gets us to the end goal. The issue this month will move from last month’s lunar cycle’s sextile to Saturn in Pisces to this month’s set of squares to Saturn, which include Venus, the Sun, & Mercury in Gemini all squaring Saturn June 8 9, & 12. Will our renewed optimism turn to pessimism as this month progresses? Will there be even more spin (read: denying what is factually true) as we move toward through this month’s lunar cycle? The key here is to get the facts straight and to keep the faith, babe, especially between now and when the Capricorn Full Moon on June 21 asks us to release any infantile habits or behaviors that might make us want to cry if we don’t get our way… In addition, we discuss the waxing Mars/Pluto cycle, which began February 18 as it Mars makes an exact waxing square to Pluto July 11. Btw, July 11 is the same day Donald Trump is scheduled to be sentenced, unless his usually tactic of delay, delay, delay is successful, we shall see. We take note of the fact as well that Mars will exact oppose Pluto on November 1—just two days before the November 3, 2024 presidential election, so stay tuned… Finally, we look again at how transiting Pluto’s been quincunxing Trump’s Leo Ascendant conjunct fixed star Regulus & how I’ve been saying for months now that this was going to change (read: adjust) the public’s views of who he “really” is. That, along with transiting Uranus hitting his Midheaven at the jury verdict, do not bode well for his reputation going forward. However, as always we shall see, but this podcase discusses also the deeper meaning of being born with Regulus prominent in one’s chart & how it portends a fall from grace when one misuses one’s power through any acts of revenge. JOIN SHERI HORN HASAN @KARMIC EVOLUTION DOT COM starting May 24 at 11 a.m. PT & 2 p.m. ET when this week’s podcast drops for more about Jupiter in Gemini for the next year & the higher meaning of the recent May 23 Sagittarius Full Moon! When the Sagittarius Moon opposed the Gemini Sun at this lunation, it highlighted for us all the shadow side of the Gemini archetype, because it reflected the light of the Sun back to itself, as do all full Moons. Thus, it asked us to release our attachment toward endless chatter & the tendency to run around in mental circles, which can create both confusion & mental exhaustion. The Sagittarius Moon reminded the Gemini Sun that there’s a bigger picture—based on a wider interpretation of our personal philosophies—that can cure the Geminian tendency toward getting stuck in the local ‘hood & ignore that there’s a wider world out there to which we are all connected. Without such consciousness, the Gemini archetype can get stuck in the maze of its own making (read: distracted by gossip & conspiracy theories) & engage in short-term tactics that don’t advance us toward an actual long-term goal. A perfect metaphorical example is this: Imagine the Gemini Sun as a person wandering confusedly through the labyrinth’s maze, unable to find an exit. The longer one walks, the more confused one gets as she loses all sense of direction. Well, when the Sagittarius Moon tells the Gemini Sun to “look up!” he’s reminding this archetypal energy that there’s a way out. If we can expand our mind beyond the narrower ken of being stuck in that labyrinth’s seemingly endless mental rut, we can rise above & see its configuration more clearly. The difference boils down to a rat being stuck in a maze with no way out compared to the eagle soaring above who sees the exit clearly. And the Gemini Sun’s trine to Pluto Rx in Aquarius at this lunation called us to take stock of the deeper meaning of our lives & to study what no longer works so that we may make changes. The intent is to reform the necessary parts of our lives so they may run more smoothly in the future. Venus entered Gemini then, too, which can help us communicate with others in more loving ways as long as we watch out for superficial communication. So, as Jupiter enters Gemini May 25 for the next year until June 9, 2025, he will expand the Geminian archetype’s potential. However, it goes without saying (though I’ll say it anyway, lol) that this means it will expand both the good, bad, & the ugly. So, get ready for the expansion of new ideas, ways of communicating, more reading, writing, talking about, & discussing of, ideas. But be prepared also for Gemini’s shadow side to rear its ugly head in the form of more mis- & disinformation & propaganda, gossip, fickle behavior, & conspiracy theories. However, since Jupiter-ruled Sagittarius is the sign of higher knowledge & expansion of consciousness, and includes in its archetypal range the subject of law, we may well see an expansion of legal applications to combat Gemini’s shadow side energies. So, if we can keep the focus on the positive of Gemini’s energies, which include talking, teaching, writing--& the reception of information through listening, learning, reading, & observing—we can make the highest use of Jupiter’s transit through Gemini over the next year.
