There were 818,000 permanent residents in 2024, and 360,000 are eligible. But the pathway toward citizenship is getting more expensive and difficult. Today, we are joined by Angie Dupree, the Citizenship Coordinator for the National Partnership for New Americans to talk about the lessons learned from national and Houston campaigns. 5:20 pm Born in Mumbai and raised in the Zoroastrian community, Nev March is a writer of mystery and historical fiction, writing short stories, poems and novels since she was eleven. Election day is June 7. Ferguson is a SL resident for 18 years, who has served since 2020 as council member At-Large Position 1. He joins us again to expand on his goals for the city and ambitions as the Mayor. 5:20 pm Piyush Gupta is a Silicon Valley entrepreneur who retired in 2013 after a 35 year career, to start a second career by establishing The Buddha Institute to make a difference in the lives of poor Indians by leveraging the support of NRIs to address India’s poverty and unemployment by nurturing development entrepreneurs. We are joined again by Kashmiri Ashok Moza who has kept a keen eye on developments and has often come on the show as an analyst on developments in the region. 4:50 pm She has been called the Queen of Indian wedding planners, and over the past 25 years, Therese Cole-Hubbs has shown time and again why she has earned that title. She can turn a wedding anywhere in the world into a Royal affair full of unique bedazzling effects. Therese was last with us in September 2022 and we asked her back to describe how Indian weddings have evolved in the past three years. 5:20 pm Since the partition of India in 1947, Pakistan and India have been enemies, primarily over the issue of control of Kashmir, with India claiming that Pakistan is aiding an ongoing insurgency and terrorists. Citizens and permanent residents returning from overseas trips have been harassed, and foreign students are being deported based on participation in demonstrations, all symptoms of the current isolationist attitude. Attorney George Willy will discuss these topics and other developing immigration issues. 4:50 pm In the past 50 years, dosas have become a favorite food item all across India just like paranthas, pani puri and dhoklas. Most Indian restaurants serve dosas rolled up like a giant crispy telescope with some filling in the middle and sambar on the side, leaving many people unsatisfied. There's an art to making soft, nourishing dosas, so we turned to Master Chef Kiran Bheemarao to give us some background and tell us the technique of making a good dosa. 5:20 pm Pratham was the first local Indian charity tofocus on childhood education in India and teaching those less fortunate how to make a living for themselves. A few years ago, it also became the first local Indian charity to raise over $1,000,000 in one gala.
