How would this possibly work? What are we doing here? How could this possibly be effective? What is it that asking questions actually does for us? In this deep end of the pool, for what you experience as a suicide hotline counselor, what does that look like? How did that impact you? Were there questions that you found most impactful on that end? Are you feeling suicidal right now? Do you have a weapon? Do you have a plan? Do you have any objects to complete that plan with you right now? Are you comfortable being in a different room from it while we're having this conversation? When's the last time you slept? When's the last time you ate? Can we get some food in you? Can we take a walk? Do they know anything you're experiencing right now? If the roles were reversed and it were your partner or your cousin or your parent who were going through something like this, would you want them to tell you about it? Do you think they wanna know if you're going through a tough time? What if we had a space where we were all on the same page? Can you take a moment to go home and be a little more vulnerable with your roommate, partner, family, or neighbors? Can you take that skill with you into the rest of your life? How are you doing right now? How did you decide to do your first skip-the-small-talk event? When's the next one gonna be? Is this even possible? How do you have people switch partners in a way that makes sense online? How do we do this? What do you got for us? How do we do this for like hundreds of people? Can you talk about that story of where you pulled the questions from, and why you chose the different questions that you did? Where do you live? What do you like about where you live? What's the worst thing you've ever experienced? When's the last time you cried? When's the last time you experienced awe? What's something you're proud of that you don't normally get to share with people or that might not be on a resume? Specifically asking what are pieces of yourself that you don't normally get to share? What is a favorite ice cream? What was something that this organization has done right to help you? What do you think it is about the structure that allows for that to happen? What other elements are at play here? Finances would be a barrier, can you help me out? Do you wanna do it for free? Due to your position in society, does it make you more or less likely to go to prison? How can we do subtle things so that you don't have to necessarily out yourself as having an invisible disability, but still get your needs met? How can we make people with marginalized identities feel comfortable opening up? How do we make those spaces feel safer? What is your right now question? What makes an experience awesome? What makes storytelling awesome? Why was this moment so powerful? Why do we dim the lights a little at dinner parties What little things can you do to trick your physiology to be more immersed in an experience? Does doing a new novel activity with someone, trick your brain into being more excited about hanging out with someone? How can you make these memories more tactile? What does the tablecloth feel like? What do the napkins feel like? Can you just do five more of these? Can we do this throughout the year? What assumptions are you making about how much others want to know about your inner world, and how might testing those assumptions change your relationships? How might your community benefit from structured opportunities to practice deeper connection, and what role could you play in creating those spaces? If you treated meaningful conversation as essential to your health, as sleep or exercise, how would that change your daily priorities and choices? Are your questions designed to extract information or to create conditions where others can share the best parts of themselves?…

The great engine of American success was built by generations of pioneers, entrepreneurs, scholars, soldiers and immigrants defined by their grit, strength and resilience.Contrast that indomitable spirit with today's generational cohort of special snowflakes who seek 'safe spaces', rush to 'cancel' any discomfiting realities, and demand desired outcomes without putting in the effort to achieve them. What happens to a society when it loses its backbone? And once lost, how if at all, can it be regained? For insights, we're fortunate to speak with Gregory Lukianoff president of the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression, and co-author of the NYT best-selling book The Coddling Of The American Mind. 2026 forward corporate earning estimates are the farthest they have ever been from historical averages. This makes a future downward revision a near-guarantee at this point; which will in turn force stocks to reprice downwards as well.So warns portfolio manager Lance Roberts. While he doesn't see much on the immediate radar to suggest the market is in any near-term trouble, he's concerned this lurking repricing risk will grow the more that earning estimates distort to the upside. For everything that mattered to markets this week, watch this Weekly Market Recap video. Today, you're in for a real treat folks. We welcome back to the program one of my all-time favorite humans, Joel Salatin.Named "the most famous farmer in America", Joel has spent his career advocating for sustainable farming practices, and pioneering models that show how food can be grown & raised in ways that:- are regenerative to our topsoils- are more humane to livestock- produce much healthier, tastier food- contribute profitably to the local economyWho wouldn't want that?Well, the government and Big Ag for starters.Joel refers to himself a "lunatic farmer" because so many of the changes he thinks our food systems need are either illegal under current law or mightily resisted by the deep-pocketed corporations controlling production and distribution. But that doesn't stop him from his passion of inspiring others to take a better path. He co-owns and operates, with his family, Polyface Farm in Swoope, Virginia. Featured in the New York Times bestseller Omnivore’s Dilemma and award-winning documentary Food Inc., the farm services more than 5,000 families, 50 restaurants, 10 retail outlets, and a farmers’ market with produce and pastured beef, pork, poultry, as well as forestry products. On the farm, Joel and his staff pilot new practices, mentor young farmers, educate the public, and produce an excellent set of workshops for those looking to truly 'get their hands dirty' learning how to farm sustainably. He's a true hero to many, including me. And I predict he'll be one of yours, too, by the end of this discussion. For a very important look into the failures & promise of our nation’s food system, watch this video WORRIED ABOUT THE MARKET? The initial Q2 2025 GDP growth number was just released and it beat expectations handily, coming in at a "strong" 3.0%But...when looking just a little bit beneath the surface, the data doesn't look as impressive as on first glance. For example, the biggest contributor by far to the "beat" was shrinking inventories relative to the massive Q1 pre-orders that were made as corporations front-ran the Trump tariffs. So, just as the negative Q1 GDP number wasn't truly as bad as it seemed, similarly the Q2 number isn't as robust as the headline suggests. The team from New Harbor Financial and I dig into what the true reality likely is, as well as discuss the latest FOMC release, the tremendous amount of speculation in the markets today, and the latest price action in gold, silver and Bitcoin. I spend a lot of time on this channel talking with seasoned investors with decades of experience, the vast majority of whom are older than I -- oftentimes by several decades. But I'm no spring chicken. And I find myself more and more wondering how younger generations look at the world of finance and the economy -- especially with the daunting challenges they face: inflation & the high cost of living, extreme wealth inequality, record high housing unaffordability, AI's threat of mass jobs destruction, $37 trillion in national debt and growing...How are they feeling about stepping into the financial world they're inheriting? Is our education system teaching them financial literacy any better than the total failure it did with us?Where are they getting their financial information from?To find out, we have the pleasure of speaking with author, economic commentator, and educator Kyla Scanlon, one of the top Zillennial financial influencers. She is widely followed across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, X and Substack.Follow Kyla on Substack at http://kyla.substack.com/Buy her book at https://www.amazon.com/This-Economy-Money-Markets-Really/dp/0593727878And follow her on TikTok, Instagram, YouTube and X at @kylascanWORRIED ABOUT THE MARKET? After the tariff tizzy that sent stocks falling earlier this year, the markets are back at all time highs and seemingly nothing -- not US involvement in a Middle East war, nor growing pushback to Trump's Big Beautiful Bill, nor a weakening consumer -- can cool Wall Street's red-hot optimism right now.Is this bull rally justified?Have we put the uncertainty and volatility that defined the first half of the year safely behind us now?Or are investors too confident now?For a market veteran's perspective, we're fortunate to be joined by technical analyst and author Michael Oliver, founder of market research firm Momentum Structural Analysis.Michael predicts an economic downturn unlike anyone living has seen before is headed our way. Portfolio manager Lance Roberts warns that speculation is running rampant among retail investors now. Yes, the market is now at an all-time high and the bulls are in charge. But as stocks are back to being overbought in the short term and earnings forecasts are likely going to have to be ratcheted down sometime soon, the risk of a blow-off top followed by a reversal is not low.We discuss the odds of that, plus potential market black swans and white swans, the growing student loan default crisis, weakening housing, cooling jobs markets, as well as Lance's firm's recent trades in this week's Market Recap.
