There are many opinions within the church today on the works of the Holy Spirit. While many Christians have opinions, we must seek to elevate the Bible over opinions. What does God’s Word say about the filling of the Holy Spirit?

In this week’s episode of the Biblical Counseling Podcast, pastor Jeff Christianson continues his study of the doctrine of the Holy Spirit. This week, he looks at how the Spirit works across the book of Acts to argue that the filling of the Holy Spirit is a continuous work. Many Christians view the Holy Spirit’s filling as an event that happens once in a Christian’s life. It is clear from the book of Acts that the Spirit works in many ways and Christians should expect a continual filling and refilling of the Holy Spirit across the span of their Christian life.

The filling of the Holy Spirit must be seen as a way of life. We are constantly dependent upon the triune God. We must live in a constant relationship with him. We should be asking God in prayer for the resources of heaven to be poured upon us as we engage in ministry–especially biblical counseling. The early church demonstrated this dependence across the book of Acts.
