Thank you for calling GIH where we instigate growth one call at a time where we utilize antiquated technology to deliver 3-minute leadership lessons every week day! This is message #167 and I am Aaron Havens.
Let’s chat about clarity.
Vision.
Purpose.
Life mission.
Yeah, just a small little topic huh!
Why do you and I walk planet earth?
As I’m about to turn 100/2 it’s natural to think about focus. I want the next 50 years to be marked by simple focus. Where I spend my calories, how how spend my life, what I do with my days… yeah, I don’t have time to waste. And may I propose that you… regardless of age… you don’t have time to waste either.
So what is it you do? Can you give me your elevator pitch? Short and sweet.
Albert Einstein has a fun quote. “If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough.” Sure, this was used in explaining theories and inventions. I would say, how much more important is this concept in the way we live our lives. Clarity is a wonderful thing. And, I would say, simply clarity is profound.
Let’s just put it in professional terms. If you want to be the best violinist in the world, you probably aren’t spending tons of hours focusing on ping-pong. That would be a distraction. Isn’t that true! Just because something is shiny, just because you are slightly interested in something, doesn’t mean we should pivot our lives and make that our focus. It could mean that. It doesn’t have to though. For the sake of this clarity topic I would say stay where you have momentum, where you’re experienced, where you can show up with passion. Y
Maybe a good way to articulate what it is you want to do with your life is to reverse engineer it. Slowly decide what you don’t want to do with your life. I have a running list of things I’ve tried, I’ve done, I’ve experienced… and yeah… not for me. With every “no thanks” I’ve been gaining clarity.
What is it for you my friends? I’d love to hear you break it down.
Thanks for calling in today. Tune in tomorrow for a fresh new topic. At the sound of the beep, give me your life mission elevator pitch.
