Miami’s defensive backfield continues to look much improved thanks to new personnel and coaching from Will Harris and Zac Etheridge. In Miami’s Wednesday spring football practice, young DBs like Chris Ewald Jr, Amari Wallace, Dylan Day and Xavier Lucas shined. Multiple players at defensive back and linebacker have been moving around and playing at multiple spots. Defensive coordinator Corey Hetherman says they are essentially playing “positionless” right now as he evaluates who fits best at each spot in his scheme.

Despite clear improvements on D, Miami still sees standout performances in drills from sophomore wide receiver Joshisa “JoJo” Trader. Host Alex Donno discusses what makes him special and also shares observations from young wideouts Daylyn Upshaw and Malachi Toney. Running back Jordan Lyle performed well in Wednesday’s practice and freshman tailback Girard Pringle is coming along nicely.
