• Set time commitments
• Give ownership
• Connect volunteers with each other

Recruiting

• Relationships:
  • Know who your volunteers are, not just what role you need them to fill
  • Have entry-level positions
• Expectations:
  • clarify your time commitments
  • Adjust your own expectations

Retaining

• Relationships:
  • Help volunteers build relationships with each other
  • Say “Thanks” as often as you can
  • Invest in them personally.
• Expectations:
  • Share expectations thru training
  • Get feedback
