Okay, let’s dive in. There is so much conflicting information and training out there right now, more than ever before.

It's hard to know what you are supposed to do and not do how you're supposed to do it and how you're not supposed to do it. It seems like every time there's some thing a new training out there that tells you to do one thing the next week there's a training that tells you to do something completely opposite.

As an example I just listened to a gentleman who said that you don't need to have a “why” in order to have success in this industry.

Yet there are people that teach, myself included, that you need to have a why, better yet you need to have your driving force. Why are you doing what you're doing.

I have to admit though, this training that I listen to, if I was brand new in the industry, he was very good. He was very convincing, to the point of, if I didn't know better and I was just getting started, I would not have focused on identifying my way or my driving force, which by the way would have been a HUGE mistake.

Let me tell you the truth, as fun as our industry can be, there are ups and downs, just like with anything. The difference between having ups and downs say at your job, you have people around you, you have a boss that you answer to, so it’s easier to get out of a down time and turn things around. However, with building a network marketing career, you are your own boss and when you go through the rollercoaster of building your business, you will be very tempted to stop working for the day, week, month, or even quit if you hit a big down period. The ONLY thing that will help pull you out and turn it around is your “why”, your “driving force”.

If you haven’t done so yet, check out the 7 levels deep exercise. That will help you identify your true driving force and will make you unstoppable. You can find it on spspcommunity.com/podcast - also in the show notes.

So Conflicting Information #1 - do you or don’t you need a “why” / “driving force”….absolutely you need it!

Next…There are people out there teaching that you have to do three reels a day in order to have success in Network Marketing. Then there are people that say that you don’t need to do reels.

Okay, so this form of marketing is fairly new, it’s only a few years old and already it has changed so much! Last year, you could post a reel, didn’t even have to be that great of a reel, and you’d wake up to sales in your inbox. That is NOT the case anymore!

I see too many people doing 1 of 2 things.

#1. They are spending way too much time creating their reels - hair, make up, lighting, clothes, shooting, editing, etc., that they are not doing the actual work they need to be doing in order to have the success they are wanting, and, on top of it, they’re barely getting any engagement. Hardly anyone is even seeing their reels.

#2. Or they are so terrified of actually doing a reel, yet they think they have to in order to have success, they feel as though they almost have to be an actor to have success, so they become paralyzed and end up doing nothing.

Both are wrong.

Reels, or short form videos are great. They definitely get pushed out to more people than a simple post, but they are not the be all end all, nor do they have to have a high production value.

If you posted 10 reels a day (which is insane) and that’s all you did, you would not have success in network marketing.

If doing reels takes you away from reaching out to actual people, then don’t do them, or cut back how you are doing them. They don’t have to be perfect. You don’t have to be perfect. Done is better than perfect. If you can batch filming your reels in 1 day, you can bang out a months worth with a little bit of preplanning and organization.

Sit down for 1 hour and do a quick scroll through peoples reels. (Set your timer, don’t go down the black hole of scrolling for hours). Find the reels that resonate with you and that have good engagement.

Write down the idea and make a note of the reel. Do this 15-20 times and you now have all of your ideas for a months worth of reels.

Since not that many people see them anyway, realistically, you can always repurpose them in a month or so. Keep this in mind when you are batch filming. Avoid mentioning dates, or time of year. Keep it evergreen, so you can use them over and over again.

So Conflicting Information #2 - do you or don’t you need to do reels? It’s a good idea, but you don’t need to do 3 per day. 1 every other day is fine. Don’t let it distract you from the task you need to do to really build your business. Reels will not build your business.

There are people who say you need to post 2- 4 times everyday on social media plus post 5-7 stories everyday.

Then there are people who say posting on social media isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be and you won’t get sales from it anymore anyway, like you use to a couple of years ago.

Okay, so keep in mind that less than 6% of your social media friends or followers will ever see the content you’re putting out.

So, kind of like the reels, don’t let it suck up your time. What happens a lot is we get busy doing busy work and none of it converts to sales.

Let me clear this one up for you, because it does get confusing. I have listened to trainings from 2 different leaders in our industry, who are both earning several millions of dollars per year with their company’s and the BOTH contradicted one another. It’s no wonder people are confused. LOL

Anyway, here is what you do…

Yes, you post and yes you add stories, however, you don’t need 2, 3, 4 posts per day or 5, 6, 7 stories per day.

You do need to have a social media presence, mainly because when you are reaching out to people, cold marketing or warm market, the first thing they are going to do, is check out your profile page and see what you have been posting.

Posting 1 time per day and adding a couple of stories per day is plenty. You can do more, but you have to be mindful of tasks that take you away from doing the actual income producing activities like reaching out, following up and growing your list of contacts (which could be growing your social media friends and followers)

Just like with the reels, do the same thing here. You can take 1 hour and scroll through to find posts that resonate with you and they have good engagement. Make a note of them and copy the link.

Then take 2-3 hours 1 day per month and create your posts for the month, or if that is too overwhelming for you, you can take 30min per week and create your posts for that week.

Batching is a lifesaver. It is worth taking a little time to organize your thoughts and map out your posts, than to have to create and post everyday. Trust me, you won’t be able to stay consistent.

Being consistent, plus your messaging is what people who are checking out your profile and posts, really care about. They will see your commitment level through your consistency and they will either identify with what you are putting out there or they won’t. If they do, then they are your perfect customer and/or teammate.

So Conflicting Information #3 - Do you post and add to your stories? Yes, but not as much as what some people are saying. You only need 1 post per day and a couple of stories that help people get to know you (more behind the scene, get to know you, kind of content)

So Conflicting Information #4- (there are more, but we will stop at this one for now)

There are people who say find your niche and speak to your people. Then there are people who say don’t so exclusive. Niching down is thinking small.

There’s a saying out there that says “if you are talking to everyone, you’re talking to no one”.

You do need to identify who it is that you would like to work with and help. What type of people do you want to surround yourself with? What struggles are they facing? What solutions can you offer them?

Then target all of your content towards that person. As if you are talking to your best friend.

This will help you sift and sort through the right people and will cut down on wasting time with the wrong people.

When you are working with the right people, the right people for you, your business will grow 100 times faster than if you are working with the wrong people.

Sometimes, especially I think as single parents with a huge amount of financial responsibility on our shoulders, we think we want anyone and everyone to join our business and I can promise you, that is not the case. You will end up wasting so much time and mental energy dealing with people that you don’t want to deal with every single day.

You don’t want to sell you soul for the quick money today. This is a marathon, not a sprint.

Stay consistent reaching out to people. Stay consistent with putting out good, thoughtful content and your business will become a success.

Do this for 90 days and you will have a business you couldn’t stop if you tried.

So Conflicting Information #4- Should you find your niche, or widen your market? Identify who is it you would like to work with and/or help. Who do you want to surround yourself with? Identify their struggles and what solutions you have for them and create all of your content and messaging towards that person.

Your business will grow faster, you’ll have more success, plus a heck of a lot more fun if you build this way, than if you try to market to everyone. No one will hear you. There’s too much information out there.

A coach of mine told me this recently - she said “a robin can only hear the song of another robin” You are singing with your content and messaging and your robins will hear you loud and clear.

I hope this weeks episode gave you clarity and left you feeling empowered. You can do this my friend.

If you are a single parent and you want to have a successful network marketing career, but you’re not quite sure how, or what to do? Maybe you've tried before but never had any success.
