Episode 4 of the brand new Season 6 kicked off at precisely 19h00 on 26 Jan 2023 on Rebel Rock Radio. First up was a band who are no strangers to TSORR, Great White with ‘Never Trust a Pretty Face’. We had a nice up-tempo start cycling through Motor Sister, and Accept and then took a huge step back into the past with the ever-fresh sound of Creedence Clearwater Revival and ‘Green River’, from there we went to Aussie for some Cold Chisel and a track called ‘Misfits’. We stayed there for Airborne and moved on to Tesla via Halestorm and a track called Legendary which of course she is. Lzzy Hale is the real deal. The Tesla track was ‘Gettin’ Better’ off the RePlugged Live album which is amazing. Tesla fans check it out.

Black Star Riders (without Scott Gorham) released a new album last week called Wrong Side of Paradise, we listened to the title track. It’s one of those that fall into the ‘Songs that could be about South Africa’ category. Talking of that we also had ‘Losing More Than You Ever Had’ (Accept) and ‘Stand & Deliver (Airbourne) as further examples. Def Leppard’s colossal breakthrough album Pyromania turned 40 this week and KISS main man Paul Stanley turned 70. We celebrated with Rock, Rock (Till You Drop), and Love Gun’ respectively.

'Peace is Free’ from Black stone Cherry calmed things down a bit, and we stayed calm with ‘Soul’ from 12th Avenue and wished Mark Haze, vocalist extraordinaire who formed 12th Avenue, a speedy recovery from the back-op he had this week. Linkin Park with ‘One Step Closer’ sounded great and then we got to Megadeth with 'Life in Hell' off their latest album and a brand new track from Metallica called ‘Screaming Suicide’. TSORR predicts that 2023 will be Metallica's year. They seem to have hit a sweet spot and are feeling the love and appreciation of the people of Planet Earth. The South African stuff was, as we say in these parts, 'poes heavy'. Kill Frenzy out of Cape Town and Diverted Disorder from the Vaal gave us our weekly dose of Linda take a walk music. Check out both bands if you dig the heavier stuff.

This week's Immortal track came from Led Zep with 'Since I've Been Loving You' off Led Zeppelin III. We had UK Punk courtesy of Sex Pistols, The Stranglers, and Stiff Little Fingers which led us to U2 with 'I Will Follow'. Prepare to hear a lot of U2, I am busy with Bono’s book Surrender, it is a great read. Even if you are not a fan it is so rich with descriptions of the times, places, and characters of the times that it is well worth delving into. the Audible version brings it all to life. We ended with Slayer and another song that could be about South Africa called 'Seasons In the Abyss'.

Artists featured: Great White, Jorn, Motor Sister, Accept, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Cold Chisel, Airbourne, Ratt, Halestorm, Nickelback, Tesla, John Mellencamp, Black Star Riders. Phil X & the Drills, Def Leppard, Iron Maiden, KISS, The Black Crowes, White Zombie, Emigrate, Glenn Hughes, Black Stone Cherry, 12th Avenue, Linkin Park, Megadeth, Metallica, Led Zeppelin, Sex Pistols, Stiff Little Fingers, The Stranglers, U2, Me and That Man, Kill Frenzy, Diverted Disorder, Piet Botha, Windowpane, Slayer.
