I'll show you how Trump is using weapons grade persuasion techniques to alter how your memory works. Black Lives Matter resentful of peaceful Women’s March against Trump http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2017/jan/24/black-lives-matter-resents-peaceful-favorable-wome/ If you're not reading Scott Adams' blog, you're missing out! http://blog.dilbert.com Feel free to use this as you see fit: "visa holders from Iraq, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen will be primarily affected by the new order." My two major criticisms of this are 1) that he didn't he do this on Monday, and 2) that the list of countries has some glaring omissions, most notably Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Nigeria. Immigration is a government program. Government programs exist for the benefit of the citizens of that country, not for the benefit of other countries' citizens. The goal of any government program should be to benefit the citizens of that country. If accepting immigrants from a certain country is working out well, we should do it more. It it isn't, we should do it less or stop. No thinking person believes that the net benefit to American citizens is the same when comparing immigration from different countries. Our soil is not magic. There is a continuum of risk and benefit associated with immigration from different countries. We have data collected over decades that tells us what is safer, and what results in more prosperity for the country - for American citizens. Immigration from some countries has resulted in a boon for the US economy. Immigration from other countries has been a drain on the economy. Nobody disputes this. There are significant differences in results. We get to choose who comes here. We should choose to accept the immigrants who help the citizens of this country the most, and what places US citizens at the least risk. People treat this issue emotionally. There is no need for that. Just do it by the numbers using objective criteria. The question to ask is: has immigration from [insert name of country here] helped or hurt the safety and prosperity of the United States in the long run? Trump's list is too short.
