The Statement of Reasons (SOR)

·Documents the reason why the Judge made his decision on sentencing

·The Bureau of Prisons places more importance on the Statement of Reasons (SOR) than on The Presentence Report (PSR)

•Providing a pathway for either programming (RDAP) or early release

·The Bureau of Prisons (BOP) will place or designate you based on The Presentence Report (PSR)

Probation also makes the sentencing and placement recommendations to the Judge

§An inaccurate PSI, will produce an inaccurate PSR,

•If caught, can be corrected with the help of the Judge, through SOR

•If the inaccurate Presentence Report is not caught :
The Judge sentences you,

The BOP places (or designates) you in a prison, which controls you for the remainder of your time incarcerated. It is then used by,

§Case managers will profile you as to the severity of the crime,

§Counselors will determine your visits,

§Educational will determine what programs you need to take,

§Psychologists will do the same; and,

§Medical will hopefully have already determined your CARE LEVEL along with medication availability, if applicable
Probation uses it during your Supervised Release,

Last, it stays on your record for life.
