061: Tom Doherty — Beating the Odds, Going from Survive to Thrive
Manage episode 268289596 series 2478575
Tom is the US Director, Corporate Campus Distribution and Logistics @ Facebook for Canon Business Process Services. He is a successful, empathic leader, and coach with over 30 years of experience in leading and managing outsourcing teams across the US and Canada. Tom has been involved in many client verticals including technology, hospitality, legal, insurance, and government.
Tom overcame seemingly insurmountable odds to become who he is today. He grew up just north of Boston in Somerville Massachusetts in government housing. Both of Tom’s parents struggled with substance abuse as well as mental/emotional/physical abuse. This led Tom to determine in 5th grade that his life was going to be different. From there Tom made his own lunch, laid out his own clothes and arrived at school everyday at least an hour early playing sports. This led to a no “victim” philosophy and discipline that drove him to success in life, sports, mentoring, business and a very proud father of three young gentlemen ages 27, 25 and 20.
