On X (Twitter), a storm of tweets began when Tiffany posted this, “Leveled readers are great for
building fluency. However, a SUBSET of leveled texts, known as PREDICTABLE texts ARE NOT great for building decoding skills and SHOULD NOT be used in kindergarten for teaching phonics.” Wiley responded, “We need to do a virtual roundtable discussion about this. There is so much research misinterpretation and misunderstanding happening now. It’s an important topic needing clarification.”
