How Faith Grounds Stanford's Cole Sprout Through The Ups & Downs Of NCAA Running
Manage episode 426570468 series 3583519
Today on the podcast is one of the most loved guests in the history of The Running Effect, Cole Sprout!
Cole runs for Stanford University (Go tree!) and is entering his final year of school there this Fall.
Cole has run 3:56 in the Mile, 13:24 in the 5k, and 27:42 in the 10k. Cole won the 2023 NACACs in the 5k, is a Five-time All-American, placed eighth in the 5,000 at the 2023 U.S. Championships, and 16th in the 10,000.
In high school, Cole became one of the greatest HS runners of all-time in Colorado history. He was the first Colorado high school runner to break 9 minutes for 3,200 in a race run in Colorado. He ran 4:02.42 in the mile in a May, 2020, when a 4:02 was like what a 3:58 is today. He won six Gatorade state athlete of the year honors – three in track and three in cross country. He also won seven state championships – doubling in the 1,600 and 3,200 in 2018 and 2019, in addition to his cross country titles.
In today's conversation, Cole and I go very deep on a plethora of subjects today relating to his running and faith. Cole speaks very openly about his faith as a Christian and we lean into that today and how it affects his running and life.
We also talk about his last year of running and his plans for the upcoming months.
Take the time to be blessed by Cole's wisdom!
