Episode 30: Joyful Rebellion 2024 Season Finale
Manage episode 449800400 series 3443362
Welcome to the season finale of the Joyful Rebellion Podcast! In this powerful episode, Dehlia McCarthy, HCS School Psychologist and Superintendent Simona Simpson Thomas join the Highlander Charter School Youth to discuss critical mental wellness matters within our community.
We review recent data on self-harm among Rhode Island teens, providing a sobering look at the challenges many young people face. One of our brave students shares a deeply personal experience, describing a pervasive feeling of dread: "I wake up and I just don't want to be." Despite these struggles, we rebel and carry on with resilience and hope.
If you're struggling with feelings of self-harm or other mental health challenges, please reach out and dial 988 to speak with a counselor.
Please stay tuned for 2 Joyful Rebellion Bonus episodes in the coming weeks about gatekeeping in gaming, and dealing with our parents.
