Do you want to read the Bible but not sure where to start? Does it all look a bit overwhelming to you? Join us as the Bible becomes alive and easy to understand. And even fun. Scripture reading by Dad with his teenage son. Early, as a young Christian, I was on fire for the Lord but had no real footing. One day an older gentleman put his arm around my shoulders, probably just to get me to stand still for a few moments, and asked, ”What’s the gospel, young man?” I straightened up with a smile and answered, ”Good news!” He smiled and nodded, ”Yes,” he said, ”yes it is. But what ’IS’ the gospel? What IS the good news?” I opened my mouth, ready for the eloquent answer...but nothing. It was then that his smile faded. He looked me direct in the eyes and said, ”Know what Christ’s Good News is! Know it, and be able to explain it so that an 8 year old could understand.” Go through Scripture with Dad as he explains it’s theological depths but in a way that all ages can understand. Smile for a few minutes and allow the Bible to be opened to you in a simple, but deeply personal, way.

Dad and Luke begin reading about the 12 Apostles. Let's take time to look at each one individually. What do we know about the disciples? What information can we gather to learn all that we can about them? Last episode we talked about Andrew. This episode we talk about the "First" Apostle: Peter. The book "Twelve Ordinary Men: How the Master Shaped His Disciples for Greatness, And What He Wants To Do With You" by John MacArthur was extremely helpful. MacArthur has taken all of Scripture as well as any extra biblical, but still historically credible, literature to help put together an excellent understanding of each disciple/apostle. I am in no way associated with John MacArthur or his ministry. However, I do highly recommend this book as well as much of his writings and teachings. The link is too long to include but the paperback but it is worth the investment. Be the first to follow us on facebook https://www.facebook.com/biblewithdad/ X https://x.com/biblewithdad…

Sit with Dad and Luke as they begin chapter 3 of Mark. The religious leaders are really starting to get upset with Jesus. They do not care if His intents are pure or even if He's sent from the Father. They are only looking for reasons to place blame on Him. Dad and Luke talk about Controversies over Religious Customs. Why weren't they fasting anymore? Do we still fast, and what's even the point? Jesus called himself the bridegroom! What does that mean? Controversies over Sinners Watch Jesus assert his authority even more as he calls Levi (Matthew) the tax collector, sits with sinners, and looks the religious leaders in the eye as he tells them that he is the physician who has come for those who need him.
