Alan and Julia Rhodes are prominent figures in the Coromandel region. Alan story unfolds as a founding member, lead vocalist, and guitarist of the Hamilton County Bluegrass Band that captivated audiences since the late 1960s. Julia has just finished a 34 year journey as a librarian in a local school.
Another side of their artistic life is a passion for pottery that began in the late '70s. Alan describes himself as a 'craft potter,' crafting unique handmade domestic ware. His dedication to shaping clay into functional pieces reflects a commitment that spans almost five decades.
Alan and his wife Julia, dealt with many challenges in life; from a devastating fire in 1984 to adapting to the changing landscape of handmade pottery. Throughout the journey, Julia remains his steadfast partner, embodying the collaborative spirit that defines their creative endeavors.
