S Speak less and speak more On phone saw ad for an app that gives you daily quotes and it said “how beautiful it is to be silent when you’re expected to be enraged “ Scriptures Went On in my morning time to listen to Luke 23 where Jesus answered Pilate's question "Are you the King of the Jews?" with more of a statement than an answer. Then when Jesus was sent to Herod He didn't respond to Herod's questions at all. According to Martin B. Copenhaver, author of the book "Jesus is the Question", Jesus asked 307 recorded questions during His ministry, and yet only answered 3 of questions made to Him. So you could say that for every question He answered, He asked 100 questions. I have regrets over things I’ve said but very little regrets over things I didn’t say On the other hand, I have more regrets over things I didn’t do vs things I did Proverbs 17:28 NKJV says "Even a fool is counted wise when he holds his peace; When he shuts his lips, he is considered perceptive." I’ve seen first hand where men I believe to be foolish based on what they've said, actually seem wise when they are in a situation with an opportunity to speak but choose to be silent A friend of mine once told me of the change he had made in conversing with his wife. When she was upset and would say things that were intended to provoke a tit-for-tat, argumentative reaction from him, he instead chose to just be silent. If she didn't specifically ask him a question, he figured he didnt' need to say anything. Of course, Jesus took it further and more often than not would not even respond to a question. Hollywood often romanticizes the bold spoken word usually at the end of a movie, at the climax, with bold music soaring, but I hope you agree we shouldn’t model our behavior after what we see in movies How does this apply at work … Why do we speak at work? To impress or share knowledge. Phrase “people don’t care what you know until they know that you care” So without caring and love your words are not accomplishing their 2 primary objectives Interesting how Jesus asked people several times not to tell about being healed, example of speaking when He tells you to and not speaking when He tells you not to. And when it matters most, we've been assured that we don't have to come up with the words. Luke 12:11-12 says "“Now when they bring you to the synagogues and magistrates and authorities, do not worry about how or what you should answer, or what you should say. 12 For the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say.”" Speak more-I'm referring to three things: One is that we should be speaking more with God our Father through prayer. 1 Thess 5:16-18 says "Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. Second is that we should be liberally speaking words of life and encouragement to others, especially to those we are closest to. Third, is we should be sharing the Gospel more with others. E New series calling Essentials, scriptures we can all look to when we’re frustrated, confused in our world, asking ourselves “what do I do?” These essentials will not be specific to the workplace, I’ll try to continue to reference those in the L or Logos section. I’m not going to teach or comment on these scriptures but to let them speak for themselves and ask you to spend time meditating on these and each week and asking God to show you how He wants you to apply them to your life now. I also ask you to look into the context for these passages, what comes before and after them and the mindset the original writer had. I will intentionally keep these brief and leave it up to you to pursue and investigate the context of each. But as for you, O man of God, flee these things. Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness. 1 Timothy 6:11 - https://www.biblegateway.com/passage?search=1%20Timothy%206:11&version=ESV L Let all who are under a yoke as bondservants regard their own masters as worthy of all honor, so that the name of God and the teaching may not be reviled. Those who have believing masters must not be disrespectful on the ground that they are brothers; rather they must serve all the better since those who benefit by their good service are believers and beloved. Teach and urge these things. 1 Timothy 6:1-2 - https://www.biblegateway.com/passage?search=1%20Timothy%206:1-2&version=ESV A https://www.patreon.com/christianmenatwork https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/christianmenatwork H Jokes Which of King Arthur's knights invented the round table? - Sir Cumference
