Almost 20,000 Clare People Drinking From An "At Risk" Water Supply

Almost 20,000 people in Clare are drinking from an "at risk" Public Water Supply. The Environmental Protection Agency's latest drinking water quality report for 2023 which has been published today, shows that regional water supplies in Corofin, Ennistymon and West Clare remained on its remedial action list at the year's end. Upgrades to the Corofin Water Treatment Plant have since been completed and will be expected by the EPA in due course, while upgrades to the Ennistymon Treatment Plant are scheduled to be carried out by September. The West Clare Supply made the list for the second year in a row due to exceedances of Trihalomethanes on the network and an action plan has since been put in place by Uisce Eireann. EPA Senior Drinking Water Inspector Patrick Chan has been telling Clare FM's Daragh Dolan that while the health effects are uncertain, the organisation is committed to tackling issues in this county.
