History of Christianity (Part 4)
Manage episode 416132423 series 3545746
In this episode, we discuss the significance of basilicas in the early Christian church, with Constantine establishing a new city (Constantinople) without pagan temples and dedicating Sunday as the day of worship. Martin Luther criticized the Roman Catholic Church's practice of selling indulgences to build elaborate basilicas. We will also look at how, during the Age of Imperial Christianity (313AD-517AD), Christianity, Roman Catholicism, and Judaism collided over the question of who Jesus is, with each group having their own distinct idea of his identity. This disagreement will lead to a perfect storm of disagreement among the three groups.
