On this first Sunday of Advent, we light the candle of hope and reflect on Psalm 130, which speaks to the depths of human suffering and the hope found in God. The psalmist's desperate plea, 'Out of the depths I cry to you, Lord,' reminds us that God hears our cries and is deeply concerned about our suffering.
