Welcome back to Grow Sisters Media, High Noon Sundays Podcast.

In this very informative podcast, we visit with Lauren Rudick, Partner at Hiller, PC and head of the firm’s cannabis practice.
We celebrate Mother’s day and get briefed on the “essential but excluded” issue regarding the lack of access stimulus funding for cannabis businesses, notwithstanding their “essential” status during this current social situation.

Rudick elaborates on what “essential but excluded” businesses are experiencing and how she and the team of Hiller, PC are working to eliminate this problem so cannabis businesses can receive subsidies. Without this funding many cannabis businesses will go out of business.

Hiller, PC and the Law Offices of Joseph Bondy were the two firms representing the plaintiffs pro bono during the lawsuit involving Attorney General Jeff Sessions. The plaintiffs in the suit include eleven-year-old Colorado resident and medical marijuana patient Alexis Bortell, former Denver Bronco turned entrepreneur Marvin Washington, Sebastian Cotte, father of Jagger Cotte, a six-year-old with Leigh's Disease; Jose Belen, a disabled combat veteran precluded from using federal medical benefits to obtain cannabis to treat his post-traumatic stress disorder; and the Cannabis Cultural Association, which represents many people of color who believe the government's pot policies are rooted in racism.

This powerful conversation recalls former United States President Nixon’s hidden agenda for ‘the war on drugs’ and how this agenda worked against the Equal Protection Act of 1868.

Rudick and HIgh Noon Sundays Podcast host Siobhan Danger Darwish both very involved in the cannabis industry agree that due to the harsh regulations and taxes put upon California Cannabis Business owners they are struggling to survive. This issue is pushing both legal and illegal businesses into the Black Market of Cannabis.

Lauren Rudick is a Partner in the boutique business law firm, Hiller, PC, in Manhattan, New York. Lauren is an Expert Contributor and has a monthly column with Marijuana Venture Magazine, is a frequent speaker at national and local events, including, among others, the Emerald Cup, MJ Biz Con, the Cannabis World Congress & Business Exposition, the Women Grow Leadership Summit, BevNet, the International Cannabis Bar Association, and the National Cannabis Industry Association, and provides pro bono legal and advocacy services to the Drug Policy Alliance, Compassionate Care New York, and the Cannabis Cultural Association.
