Today we’re joined by Dale Bredesen, MD, a pioneer in brain health research and an internationally recognized expert on the mechanisms of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease. His career has been guided by a simple idea: that Alzheimer’s as we know it is not just preventable, but reversible. Dr. Bredesen's research explains the physical mechanism behind the erosion of memory seen in Alzheimer’s disease, and has opened the door to new approaches to treatment. His work has placed him at the vanguard of neurological research, leading to the discoveries that today underlie the ReCODE Protocol. He put much of his findings and research into the best selling books "The End of Alzheimer’s," "The End of Alzheimer’s Program," and "The First Survivors of Alzheimer's: How Patients Recovered Life and Hope in Their Own Words Paperback." Dr. Bredesen earned his MD from Duke University Medical Center and served as Chief Resident in Neurology at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), before joining Nobel laureate Stanley Prusiner’s laboratory at UCSF as an NIH Postdoctoral Fellow. He held faculty positions at UCSF, UCLA, and the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Bredesen also directed the Program on Aging at the Burnham Institute before joining the Buck Institute in 1998 as founding President and CEO. ◘ Related Content The Bredesen Protocol https://www.apollohealthco.com/bredesen-protocol/ Dr. Bredesen's blog https://www.apollohealthco.com/news/from-dr-bredesen-chief-science-officer/ Apollo Health https://www.apollohealthco.com/ ◘ Transcript https://bit.ly/3xJhXYm ◘ This podcast features the song “Follow Your Dreams” (freemusicarchive.org/music/Scott_Ho…ur_Dreams_1918) by Scott Holmes, available under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial (01https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0/) license. ◘ Disclaimer: The content and information shared in GW Integrative Medicine is for educational purposes only and should not be taken as medical advice.
