The Ogden City Police's 1920's heavy handed and steel trapped mind of Bob Burk
Manage episode 330653440 series 3358733
Baseball game riots, Black-Hand gangsters, and "Skulking dope peddlers", from 1900-1931 Captain James Robert "Bob" Burk's career spanned the gap between Pender and Noble/Keeter. Noted for his heavy hand and impeccable memory, Burk's legacy is tied into Black-Hand gang leader JH Martin, who due to the time period was able to change his name multiple times to avoid crimes in other locations, while also being one of Teddy Roosevelt's storied Rough Riders. Something we believe we uncovered in our research that had previously been lost to history, and certainly not tied to his crimes in and around Ogden. Burk's career is as colorful as the lights on 25th Street.
