RELATIONSHIPS & HOW TO BUILD ON WEB 3

Lesson Plan for fellow project owners, creators, and colleagues

Prepared by Komard

OVERVIEW & PURPOSE

The purpose of this lesson is to show you how you can build meaningful and lasting relationships as well as why doing so is key to any success you hope to have in the Web 3 space be it NFTS, CryptoCurrency, or any other activities taking place on the blockchains.

INTRODUCTION

As most of us have been affected in some way by the Covid-19 Pandemic we have all grown to make more use out of the numerous social media platforms that are now available, and even those that were available long before the pandemic. But now as we have begun our journeys with Web 3 and the blockchains these social media platforms have become a more integral part of our day to day lives. So its important to understand the true purpose and how to use them so that we can get a return on our investments. For most of us the biggest investments we make at this time is time itself. Some may invest money be it with paid promotions or even hiring social media managers and other service providers. So how do we ensure that we are getting the most bang for our investments?

I've learned over the course of my time on this planet and in business that the more successful you are building meaningful and ;lasting relationships with the people around regardless of if they are your family, friends, people on social media platforms, and potential customers; the more successful you will be in life and business with all of them. Due to the craziness of our lives both in the web 3 space and in real life its even more vital that we know how to utilize key opportunities to build these relationships to the best of our abilities.

WHAT IS A RELATIONSHIP?

According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary a relationship is:

  1. the state of being related or interrelated
  2. the relation connecting or binding participants in a relationship
  3. a state of affairs existing between those having relations or dealings

I want to take it one step further or elaborate on this a little here. With regards to meaningful and lasting relationships I am of the opinion that it means having the ability to relate to someone on some level about something. Look here Relationship, relationship starts with the base word of relate.

It is also important to understand that you will not be able to relate to everyone or even all the time with those you do have something in common with. That's the beauty of a relationship, you get to decide whom you build these relationships with and who you allow or don't into your circles. You should also keep in mind and understand that you can not please 100% of the people 100% of the time. So don't worry about not being able to relate to everyone. It will never happen successfully long term anyway.

HOW CAN RELATIONSHIPS LEAD TO SUCCESSES?

Let me ask you this. Who are your biggest supporters right now, in life?

Now that you have been able to answer that question, is there anything those people would not do to show you love, respect, and support?

So now if you take the time to build the same caliber of relationships within the web 3 space do you think those people you have taken time and put energy into building these relationships with will do the same?

Now to answer the last question at least from my experience, opinion, and point of view; YES! Now, I can also say that is not the case for all of them. Now the great thing here is the pretenders will make themselves known without even meaning to. Generally this will happen within about 2 weeks time. But if they are really good at pretending then they might be able to pull off what I refer to as a long con, but in most cases not.

As I stated a few days ago in a tweet on Twitter “Do not let people take advantage of you. #Relationships are a 2-Way street. There is a difference between giving more than you expect to receive and being taken for granted.”

STEPS TO BUILDING MEANINGFUL RELATIONSHIPS

  • Be able to Laugh
  • Laughter is one of the easiest things to do and if you weren't aware of one of the most contagious emotional expressions of joy. It's also proven to be beneficial to your overall health as well as strengthening relationships.
  • Never Mumble
  • Being able to effectively communicate is vital to the success of any relationship and if people can't hear or understand you then the chances of building a meaningful and lasting relationship are greatly diminished. Additionally mumbling implies a lack of confidence in what it is your saying thus implying you're either uncertain or lying.
  • Choose your battles wisely
  • It's okay to disagree with someone. But that dont give you the right to be a dick. You can still respectfully agree to disagree about the topic or subject matter and continue in another direction of conversation. If that's not possible because it goes against your moral code or some moral value you have then it's okay to just seperate yourself respectfully.
  • Identify Personality Conflicts
  • Some people are jokers while others maintain a more serious presence and tone in life as a whole. If you're one or the other of these people and you know that you don't interact well with the opposite then perhaps it's in both your and the other person's best interests to just not get involved in trying. Now that said, I’m also a believer in the fact that “it is better to try and fail than to not try at all.”
  • Things to consider
  • Unrealistic expectations
  • Trying to hard
  • Being negative about self, the relationship or life.
  • Being a rescuer, a martyr, a savior or a "perfect" person.
  • Trying to change the other person to suit your needs.
  • Being too self-centered, judgmental or always "right".
  • Stockpiling strong feelings - anger, pain, sadness, neediness - and then pouring them all out at once.
  • Expecting the other person to be a mind reader, a fixer or always a rock of stability for you.
  • Understand what’s really being asked
  • People will ask questions other than the ones they really want the answers to. One example of this would be “How can I be more successful in web 3?” What they are really asking is how they can gain more traffic, engagement or sales. Having the ability to read between the lines can make all the difference between just talking and communicating effectively.
  • Be Responsive
  • Respond when people speak to you, about you, or even on your behalf. What that means is to take time out of your day to respond to DM’s, tweets, or other mentions that include you to respond in a positive and engaging way that adds value to the conversation. Don't be a Fluffer. Fluff can be seen clearly and no one likes fluff. Most importantly make it a priority and do it in a timely manner.
  • Be Consistent
  • You guys have heard me say it time and time again consistency is King. By being consistent you're showing your true self to those around you and those who come across your content. This will aid in letting people know if you're worth their time and if you are the kind of person they want in their circles.
  • Be Trusting
  • I'm of the mindset in most cases to trust people until they have given you a reason not to. But I also believe in doing your homework. So if you find yourself questioning someone's intentions do your own research. You can't make informed decisions without having all of the information. In my opinion this is true of everything you do in life.
  • Give More than you ever expect in return
  • Don't worry about what the hell other people do or don't do. We all make our own beds and we all have to lay in them, whether they are a mess or not.Give with an open heart and if people are not doing the same do not allow those people to take advantage of you. Understand there is a difference between expecting something in return and letting people take advantage and every relationship should be a 2-Way street!
  • Stay Positive
  • The easiest way to do this is to avoid negativity. What does that mean? If you come across someone that all they want to do is complain about this or that then avoid them, if you are in a space and it's one big bitch fest run…
  • It's statistically proven that we become the people we associate with. So if we hang out with the complainers and the whiners we are 10 times more likely to be one of those people. Whereas if we spend our time with people who are successful and positive we are 10 times more likely to become like them. So now which group of people would you prefer to be like?

IN CONCLUSION

At the end of the day it's up to each and everyone of us to take the initiative to build these relationships. We do that through cultivating them. You need to understand that not all relationships will be cultivated in the same fashion nor will all relationships work out favorably for all involved as all of us come from different walks of life with different morals, values and backgrounds. Keep in mind that what works for one relationship may not work for another. And not every relationship will lead to a direct sale of a piece of your art or even an indirect sale. But keep in mind they all have the potential to. What you do with your relationships is ultimately up to you.

Personally, I try to live by my honor and keep in mind that I never want to burn any bridge. The reason for this is because I never know when I may need to cross that bridge in the future.
