Take up your cross, the Saviour said,
if you would my disciple be;
Deny yourself, the world forsake,
and humbly follow after me.
This traditional Christian hymn reminds us of the teaching of Jesus where he says, "Whoever wants to become my follower, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me."
