This is a summary of the judgment R (Bridges) v the Chief Constable of South Wales Police [2020] EWCA Civ 1058. The Court of Appeal considered whether or not the use of automated facial recognition technology by the police breached Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights and whether they had complied with the public sector equality duty to consider the risk of indirect discrimination.
