• Joy’s Birthday Party - Join us at Rainier Valley Church after our worship service on Sunday, December 11 for a very special birthday party for @Joy Mipalar. The Birthday Party will have an English Tea Party Theme and ladies are encourage to bring a fancy hat if they would like. Joy will be provided some incredible food. Please plan to celebrate Joy's birthday with us on Sunday, December 11th.
• Christmas in the Book of Revelation - Join us this Advent season, beginning on Sunday, November 27th as we light the Advent candles, reflect on Jesus' birth and study how Christmas is fulfilled in the book of Revelation.
• Christmas Eve Saturday - Please plan to invite friends and family to join us for a special Christmas Eve Candlelight service on Saturday, December 24th at 4pm.
• Christmas Day Service - Pastor @Ken Sabalza is planning a special Christmas Day worship service for Sunday, November 25th at 4pm. If you're in town, please plan to join us to celebrate the incarnation of Jesus Christ, the first and greatest of all Christmas gifts ever given.

Application Point: We read Revelation for the promised blessing, we trust the coming King, and we find hope in the midst of persecution. Discussion Questions:

• The Hope of Blessing (Revelation 1:1-3)

What is your experience with the book of Revelation and how does that experience impact the way your approach this Advent sermon series? If you were suffering persecution for faith in Jesus and being tempted towards compromise, what truth(s) about God would bring you comfort and encourage you to persevere? What did God want us to learn from the book of Revelation? (1:1) What is promised to those who take the time to study this revelation? (1:3) What did John urge his readers to do? (1:3) How does it make you feel to realize that God wants us to know what the future holds? What are some ways God might bless us through a study of Revelation.

• The Hope of Fulfillment (Revelation 1:4-8)

With what typical phrases do you open and close your letters? 2. What is Jesus’ attitude toward Christians? (1:5) 3. What is Jesus’ purpose for the church? (1:6) What prophecy opens this book? (1:7) 5. How should we act in light of the fact that we have been freed from our sins? What changes need to take place in your life to reflect the truth that Jesus may return at any moment? What can you do now to prepare for Jesus’ return?

What is the most frightened you have ever been? Why did Jesus comfort and reassure John? How? (1:17-18) What did Jesus tell John to do? (1:19) How did Jesus interpret the meaning of the seven stars and golden lampstands? (1:20) What overall impression does this passage give you about Jesus Christ?
