Welcome to the Saving Throes podcast! This is my Tabletop role-playing game podcast, part of the Red Rooster's Gaming Coop network where I talk gaming and gaming culture every week. Each episode will feature a topic or theme along with my take on current happenings in the world of tabletop role-playing games and semi regular updates on the games I am currently involved with, or new games or products I have come across.
At this point in February, love is in the air, and Cupid has equipped his +2 Masterwork Longbow of Love, and has you in his sights, with advantage on his attack! Lame joke aside, this week I wanted to talk about the theme of love in TTRPGs, and the different ways it can manifest - real life relationships and how the dynamics between a couple at the table can affect your game, or alternatively, love and relationships between characters, whether player controlled characters or non-player characters. People can sometimes feel uncertain about how to approach this subject, and especially when the idea of sex comes up. I provide some advice about how to deal with and embrace the theme of love, both real and imaginary, at your table. Tune in to also hear about an awkward and gross roleplaying situation I once had the misfortune of encountering at a public play game a number of years ago!
