In one incident, Kirkland was accused of firing shots into Meshay's apartment window, while her daughter was inside the residence. He was arrested for this incident, and Meshay was granted a protection order, that Kirkland violated almost immediately, this case highlights the injustices of a system that allowed a dangerous man to be out on bond despite his criminal past against women and pending murder charge which could have prevented this tragedy from happening.
