Kickstarter Conversation: Jason Douglas on Jane American: The Graphic Novel
Manage episode 435381270 series 3404537
This week, writer Jason Douglas returns to talk with Joe about his current ongoing Kickstarter, Jane American: The Graphic Novel.
Jason Douglas previously came onto the show to talk about Parallel, a dark and twisted sci-fi one-shot in the vein of The Twilight Zone, and the Jane American one-shot, which was successfully kickstarted last year, and leads into the full-length Jane American graphic novel.
It was great to reflect on those books and conversations, and look ahead to the current ongoing campaign and release for the full Jane American graphic novel!
Jane American: The Graphic Novel is currently live on Kickstarter until September 14th at kickstarter.com/projects/724960070/jane-american-the-graphic-novel, so please go support it if you can! Indie comics like this won't happen without your support, so it's vital to their success.
Check out the synopsis for Jane American: The Graphic Novel below, taken from the campaign page:
"In the 1940's, Jane was living a life of family, stability, and hope... until she wasn't! Until tragedy arrived on her doorstep and changed her in unbelievable ways that are better left hidden. Yet, the economic hardships brought on by the end of the war have left Jane with a choice: Stay safe, stay hidden... or embrace who she truly is, and what she can really do, for the sake of everyone that she loves!
Jane American is 132 page full-color Graphic Novel expanding on last year's one-shot. It follows ALL of Jane's adventures and struggles as she comes of age in turbulent times. This story, relatable to kids and adults alike, explores the universal themes of identity, gender, self-worth (being who you are in a world that tells you something different), and small-town societal norms in post-WWII America. With hints of beloved stories like Superman For All Seasons and Archie: 1941, Jane American will break your heart, make you think, and have you on your feet cheering by the end!"
