想了解更多「拯救廣東話課程」行動的資訊,請瀏覽以下網址: https://www.savecantonese.org/blog/save-cantonese-ccsf https://www.instagram.com/savecantonese_ccsf/ San Francisco has long been an immigrant gateway city for Asian immigrants, particularly for Chinese immigrants. Today, more than 20% of the City’s population is of Chinese descent and Chinese is spoken by more than 18% of residents. Despite the history and strong presence of Chinese Americans, the community has struggled to preserve Cantonese, a language that is widely-spoken by the local Chinese community. In this episode, we invited Professor Grace Yu, a Cantonese language instructor at the City College of San Francisco, as well as Chester Leung and Julia Quon, two student organizers from the Save Cantonese at CCSF campaign. They share about the history of the Cantonese language program at CCSF, their own personal experiences of learning Cantonese, why the Cantonese program is important, and how others can support the campaign to save Cantonese.
