Taibai Mawade's husband, Janardhan Mawade, was killed by upper-caste men during the 1978 violence in Marathwada. Taibai survived and joined the Namantar Movement, to fight for and win the university renaming that had sparked the violence. After the white supremacist terrorism that occurred in my hometown, Charlottesville, Virginia, Taibai's story is giving me the hope that I need to keep resisting.
