In this episode, Steve Schnall, the Chief Development Officer for the Phoenix Children's Hospital (PCH) & Foundation, one of the largest pediatric hospitals in the United States, joins Andrew in studio. Steve has been with PCH since its inception in 1983, over 40 years ago, and he shares all of the ups and downs of his journey, including, when he was asked to take over the Foundation as the "Chief Fundraiser" in the early 2000s, a job he didn't want. Steve shares with us how to get through adversity and work with a team that initially dislikes you (very strongly). He shares how he, through the school of hard knocks, learned how to build a culture befitting of such an incredible organization and how you can do the same. He discusses how to successfully ask people for money, and he talks about the huge goal he committed his team to, to raise $500MM in 7 years, before he retires. Andrew and Steve have on of the most in-depth conversations on Leadership & Culture that the Andrew Holland Podcast has had to date and you will want to share this episode with every leader, colleague, and friend because of the plethora of incredible advice Steve shares.
