Manage episode 453101575 series 3535670
PIZZAIDF is a unique non-profit organization based in Israel, dedicated to making and delivering pizzas to IDF soldiers in Gaza and Lebanon since October 7th. Founded in 2002 by Menachem Kuchar during the Second Intifada, the initiative was born out of a desire to give some nutritional peace and substances to soldiers, through the universal language of food. The organization's mission focuses on providing pizzas made through local businesses. In 2010, the leadership of PIZZAIDF was passed to Menachem’s son, Elisha Kuchar, who continued to expand the reach of the organization. This interview was conducted in northern Israel, while Elisha is serving in the army. Under Elisha's guidance, PIZZAIDF has remained committed to its core values of helping small business owners and filling the stomachs of Israeli's fighters. Prior to the Jewish holiday of Chanukah, PIZZAIDF also delivers donuts, a popular dessert at this time, to army bases, and behind enemy lines.
