Archived Episode: Project Right Angle

Earlier in 2016, 7th-grade social studies teacher Matt Brown passed away after a long battle with cancer. In his wake, however, he left Project Right Angle - a challenge to 13 middle school students to design the perfect arm brace to help him overcome the side effects of his radiation treatments. In this episode, I speak with some of those students - each from Maysville Middle School in Zanesville, Ohio - and their STEM teacher, Brandon German. We talk about the genesis of the project, the early obstacles that the group faced when designing a prototype (or two, or three, or more!) and the outcomes, both expected and unexpected, of their collaboration with Matt Brown, and more importantly, with each other.
