Elaine Hayes is a friend, client and colleague.
Elaine is a boarding barn owner, a dressage rider and trainer and lives in NC USA.
Partnership Dressage is the lense she approaches to developing correct sport horses, to a high level, with kindness and respect. I have really enjoyed supporting her on a few cases she called me in to advise on.
Elaine is also an advocate for quality breeding. After discovering ECVM in some of her horses, which resulted in life ending scenarios for these horses, Elaine put her entire business on the line to begin advocating for better breeding, diagnostics and awareness. Awareness around the bodies many horses are born with.
ECVM, which has been discussed a few times in season 1, together with many other genetic diseases of a horses skeleton is not always a doom and gloom diagnosis. It is not always a life ending diagnosis. But it does hold a very high prevalence of high potential for discomfort, pain, and potentially event catastrophic dysfunction. Early studies indicate the possibility, but not yet proven fact, that an enormous percentage of today’s domestic horses are bred with broken bodies.
I hugely admire Elaine. Because I admire anyone who speaks boldly to their triuth and puts everything on the line, passionately for causes that are important to them.
Appearing on her first podcast ever, here. It is my pleasure to introduce you to my friend and colleague, Elaine.
