I recently had the pleasure of interviewing #GetSocialSmart Academy member, Jim Chu for our monthly Academy Spotlight series!
Jim has been in real estate about six years, and is a real estate salesperson with Royal LePage Real Estate Services in Mississauga, Ontario - Canada. He’s also been a part of our Academy for almost a year and a half.
In our conversation we talked about his vast experience before real estate and how that has impacted his business. Jim also shared his journey with social media, what is working for him right now with video marketing, Instagram and so much more. We also talked about being consistent and how having a plan is key!
I know you will enjoy the interview! Check it out on our YouTube channel and on our podcast!
About Jim:
Jim had vast experience in many fields prior to entering the world of real estate.
He initially worked in the restaurant field including a golf country club, Greek/ Mediterranean restaurant, English pub, sports bar and a TexMex restaurant which later took him into wine sales - where he learned a lot about customer service and the need to hustle.
Jim’s career then took him into a production supervisor position in an instant printing company where he learned logistics, organization skills and scheduling. Skills that serve him well today. He also worked as a charter bus driver touring groups to Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec City, New York City, Washington D.C., Chicago, Boston and many other cities. He still holds a Class B driver's license and with this opportunity, he credits a great deal of responsibility and interpersonal interaction.
Jim is an avid photographer which he has done both as a hobby and professionally. He still enjoys photography and these days, video work on his listings.
Growing up in Toronto, Jim studied mechanical and architectural drafting at Central Technical School.
The vast background that Jim possesses would amalgamate into a “well rounded” career in real estate where his drafting, photography, mechanical and architectural experience; combined with customer service, organization and sales would all be put to great use!
Jim has owned a vast collection of real estate from houses, condos and lofts through various parts of the city of Toronto and Mississauga where he worked along with a custom home builder to build a 3200 sq ft. modern home with an extensive landscape plan that he had a huge part in creating. He resides there today with his wife, in the Lakeview community. His knowledge also helps his clients when considering a new build experience.
