Invisible Revlolution Interviews Episode 18 - with Mrs Darlington
Manage episode 309419699 series 3032825
Those of you who have heard about my book The Invisible Revolution will know why I always get so excited about meeting successful jam-makers! This was no exception, in fact, being invited to go along to the Mrs Darlington’s offices to interview daughters Wendy and Sarah felt a little bit like being invited to Buckingham Palace to meet the queen of Jam-makers! I felt honoured to be invited into the heart of this successful family business, and to find out what the secret is behind this successful family business which is now global yet remains a lifestyle business which has remained true to its deepest values.
Mrs Darlington’s Bio - Marion Darlington started making her award-winning range of products in the 1980s. Now in her 70’s, Marion is still the ‘Mary Berry’ of recipe creation in the family firm – there are few to rival her skill in creating preserves and chutneys with such a fabulous homemade taste. However, one of those rivals might just be her eldest daughter Sarah – they’ve been working together for 27 years, along with younger daughter Wendy who tempted away from her corporate job to join the family business in 2006, so when we say on the jar ‘Made with Love’, we really mean it!
Marion still finds it hard to believe she went from making 100 jars a day of her Legendary Lemon Curd in the farmhouse kitchen to selling over 400,000 jars a year of this marvelous product today!
