287. What Is Repentance in a Discipline Conversation?
Manage episode 441351358 series 2838097
Welcome back to the kitchen table! Today, Bethany is walking us through a crucial topic: repentance. It’s a word we often hear and toss around, but what does it truly mean, and how can we guide our kids through it?
When introducing repentance to our children, it’s important to remember that it’s not just about saying sorry but about helping them understand a heart-level change. Luke 5:32 reminds us that Jesus came to call sinners to repentance, and Acts 3:19 encourages us to turn to God and receive forgiveness. It’s a challenge to teach our kids to think differently and recognize that none of us are perfect.
We can remind them that repentance is about their relationship with God—it’s not about guilt or shame. Instead, it’s about the freedom we have in Christ because Jesus came to save us.
Bethany highlights that repentance is one of the most beautiful parts of our faith. As we talk with our kids, we get to watch God work in their hearts, helping them understand the power of turning to Him. These gospel-centered conversations create opportunities for our children to experience God’s grace and grow in their walk with him.
