Headlines:

• On Wednesday, Maine Governor Paul LePage vetoed legislation removing age restrictions on naloxone access. The legislation received a total of seven no votes in both the House and Senate combined. The legislature will reconvene next week and would need a two-thirds majority in both chambers to override the veto.
• Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton, representing the District of Columbia, is set to introduce legislation that would allow for the use of medical marijuana in federally-assisted housing. “Individuals living in federally funded public housing who are prescribed legal, medical marijuana should not fear eviction for simply treating their medical conditions,” Norton said in a statement.
• A report by the UK’s National Union of Students and the drug policy organization Release details concerns about punitive drug policies students encounter at university. Almost 3000 students responded, with nearly 60% reporting lifetime drug use.
• The Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police has appointed a special committee to study the decriminalization of all drugs, as a potential solution to the opioid crisis. This comes just a week after the Liberal Party of Canada, the current ruling party, officially endorsed the decriminalization of all drugs.
