Double Impact: Lexi & Leon Spill the Tea on Their Dynamic Duo!
Manage episode 380868429 series 3517711
According to a recent report, only 29 percent of African Americans are married, making them the “most unmarried racial/ethnic group in the US. Interestingly enough, that same study also revealed the majority of African Americans they surveyed want to be married. You can call me old fashion or whatever, but I hold the belief that black marriages (or the lack thereof) will affect the future of the black community and the country at large. I find joy in hearing about black couples getting married because, well, black marriages matter. I may not have experienced it personally, but I understand the significance. Statistically, married couples tend to build more wealth on average compared to singles or cohabiting couples. Additionally, marriage appears to be linked to better health outcomes among minority groups and those facing economic challenges. When it comes to the decision to marry or not, there seem to be far more positives than negatives.
Today, we're celebrating the bright side of black love. Meet Alexis Jackson and Leon Collins. They are happily engaged, to the extent that they have billboards all across the St. Louis Metropolitan area proclaiming their upcoming union. The highly anticipated Royal Wedding of Alexis and Leon is the hot topic in town, and I am happy to keep the conversation going. Welcome Lexi and Leon!
