Scott Davenport is a national championship basketball coach at Bellarmine University. He's also a horseman at heart, having developed a love for thoroughbreds and racing while growing up just blocks from Churchill Downs. As we prepare for Kentucky Derby 150, it just seemed natural to check in with Coach Davenport. We start with a little bit of discussion about Bellarmine and the state of college basketball. He also talks about the pride in his childhood neighborhood putting their best foot forward at Derby time. Then we talk about the Davenport Derby Dash, Louisville's newest Derby week tradition, kicking things off on Wednesday May 1. The money raised benefits the Davenport Family Scholarship, which supports the programs student managers. Items up for auction or raffle include a personal barrel of bourbon from Woodford Reserve.
