Nonie Darwish, Now They Call Me Infidel: Why I Renounced Jihad for America, Israel, and The War on Terror Nonie Darwish grew up in Cairo, Egypt in the Gaza Strip as a Muslim. She lived in the heart of the Arab/Israeli conflict. Her father was head of the Egyptian military intelligence to destroy Israel. Her father was considered a "shahid," a martyr for jihad. Her father was eventually assassinated by Israel and his posthumous status earned Nonie and her family an elevated position in Muslim society. Ms. Darwish grew up in an environment of intense hatred and an absolute fear of the Jewish people, but in 1978, Darwish moved to the United States and now speaks out as a Christian mother and proud Arab woman. She is a freelance writer, interpreter, and public lecturer. She is the founder of Arabs for Israel. Nonies books tell the journey from hatred to love.
