Sword of the Stranger is a samurai movie. It's exactly what you'd expect from any samurai movie. In camp Shmanime, we are divided on whether it's a particularly good one or not. There is a fine line between an homage to a genre, and being derivative and we spend a lot of time debating where this film lands. We also talk about cute dogs and how we love them. We all agreed that much of the art displayed in this film is fantastic and does a lot to make Sword of the Stranger a unique film in a saturated genre. As always, we laugh and get mad at each other, but mostly we are vibing.
