Break The Shackles of Poverty with Empathy (Feat. Michael Kramer)
Manage episode 417031875 series 2828543
"I will never forget the fearful look on my mother’s face when she came to me, her youngest son, twenty-one years old, number nine of her ten children, and told me she didn’t have six hundred dollars to dig my father’s grave. The night before, he had died on a hospital bed in our living room after a three-year battle with colon cancer that had spread to his liver. My mom, Gladys, didn’t know what to do.
That day in 1992, I felt a mix of emotions, from shock and disbelief to anger to an even deeper sadness at an already difficult time. I was speechless. “How,” I thought over and over that day, “does a man who had been a great dad, was well known and respected in the community, and was a business owner for over thirty years leave his wife and children broke?”
Following the release of Empathy and Understanding in Business," Michael joined us on the podcast to discuss his take on injecting empathy into business dealings and his chapter in the book. Michael's chapter entitled "EMPATHY—THE POWER TO BREAK THE CYCLE OF POVERTY" shares his personal and professional experiences that led him to achieving success by showcasing empathy each step of the way.
So sit back, relax, and enjoy another enlightening conversation from one of the brightest minds in business.
