With the Fall Memory Care Forum coming up September 14-15, the Institute for the Advancement of Senior Care (IASC) invites all thoughts and expertise on long-term care, acute care, and, of course, memory care for the betterment of clinicians, executives, administrators, and residents. This episode discusses memory care with Joan Devine, director of education for the Pioneer Network, a national non-profit organization whose goal is to provide a positive culture change toward eldercare. Joan Devine, a 30+ year care professional and founder of JP Devine Consulting, sits with the IASC Podcast to provide solutions on how to create a sustained culture of aging, provide the opportunity for choices among residents, and train staff for ethical and effective execution of care and intervention. Residents in specific need of memory care may occasionally feel a lack of individualism or identity, and Joan wants to ensure that every long-term care employee provides personalized care in lieu of system-designated care.
