Prioritize reading to help students value it and develop a habit of reading.
Set clear expectations for behavior during reading time and create an anchor chart to visually represent these expectations.
Assist students who hate reading by helping them discover books they can relate to and enjoy. Offer graphic novels, books in verse, and audiobooks to promote reading.
Offer reading challenges to help student self select reading outside of class.
